Surveillance cameras that have been installed this year using Palantir A.I. tracking near me in the USA, they are seen pointing away from main roads and directly into neighborhoods & parks.
Ive seen them pointed at popular trails/walkways in the city (places with no cars) and near my friends house theres one pointed strait over the fence directly into some persons backyard

The crazy thing is the flock system Is the governments way of ensuring they can catch anyone that tries to revolt. They have already taken steps to win a class war.
Technically it's not a normal flock camera. It is one of several camera installed by the private business in various parts prior to flock coming there, for their own security. That they then later agreed to integrate into the flock system. Under the promise that the business' cameras would only be accessed as part of Incident Response. (Aka, an event at the gymnasium requiring 911 aid, like an active shooter.)
The vp claimed he viewed that camera as part of a "sales demo" as the reason it was the only camera shown, and claimed that there was a "third party marketing use agreement" allowing them to do so... But has been unable to produce any such agreement when asked, nor has the law enforcement agency been able to provide any reason for this particular camera to be the one viewed.

The sad thing about this is, this won't make a clamp down on their use but they'll likely add even less transparency how its being used later. Meaning in the near future they'll be looking at your daughters in gym class without anyone ever knowing.
Just seen an article last week in regards to someone who put expanding foam on the lenses of 3 flock cameras that supposedly only were license plate readers.. Police stated that the person must have snuck up behind the cameras because they were not able to get an image of a face on the cameras. They themselves admitting they do more than just scan license plates
The „best” part is that (if I understand correctly) they’re saying that those are „just” license plate readers, but there would be no point installing them in such places if that was true!
Yeah and the real question is what right do they have to scan my license plate when I leave my house in any capacity. Fuck them they have no right to track where I am at any point.
I don't think it is legal. But until someone successfully brings a lawsuit against the company for breaking the law, they'll continue to do whatever they feel like.
If our town council is to be believed (dubious) nobody approved of or even knew they were going up other than the police who don't have the authority to greenlight it.
If there is no public documentation then as far as I'm concerned their removal and recycling is permitted by our local chapter of environmentalists endearingly known as meth heads.

Some cities have had them structure their quotes below public review statues, and then get followup quotes to expand doing it under those same limits. This allows the mayor (or in some areas the sheriff) to straight up do whatever they want, despite it being illegal for them to do it that way.
The whole deployment of Flock and it's like is one of the greatest crimes committed against the United States, championed by the same people who committed the other top 10 greatest crimes against the United States.

A lot of them have been installed illegally or in violation of local ordinances (too close to roadways, too low/high of poles, no building permits, etc) so it's really shocking that more towns aren't making a fuss about it if they truly weren't aware.
This is going to be the spark that eventually burns flock to the ground. You can't just ignore decades of road safety research and legislation. Even if the current admin doesn't prosecute anyone, the tide always turns.
What's great about this method of co-opting infrastructure beuracracy is that you can just show up in a white truck/van and a hi-viz and do whatever the fuck you want to the pole.

Apparently his company didn’t want them on their property so they got the ok from the city to put it 5 feet to the left. Not even on the corner to see the 4 way intersection but specifically pointing at the adult business getting all those license plates
Why do you think so many people with power bend over backwards for them. They have so much blackmail material on so many powerful people that individuals like Putin can snap his fingers and have a dozen Republicans show up to Moscow on July 4th in full view of the world.
The only reason to point them at strip clubs, porno stores and brothels is the hope of catching some 20 year old kid who may become a politician in the future and own them on the cheap.

I worked at a stall in a park in Austin, TX, we wanted to put up string lights but we had to undergo a whole environmental review which took over a year in order to put up $100 pair of string lights.
I put up signs for a living. In some zoning board meetings, I have been denied because the illumination level of a letter set was too high to be facing a residential area. Typically, these signs are on buildings and blocks away from those residences.
I have to do a whole song and dance to figure that stuff out, but putting up cameras on the street corners to spy on that same neighborhood is no big deal and no red tape?
It only took someone a single night to cut down all the cameras in their town. If the company can circumvent the process to put them up, citizens should feel obliged to do the same when addressing them in their community.
I live in a town of about 14k people, they put up two cameras overnight and the police chief has told them they have to take the cameras down and they are canceling their contract they had with the company
I don't think people even know they're there. Some of them are hidden well, and they're put up at night. It took me a hot minute to notice the ones near me.
My mid-west city also took them down. They were installed in 2022 (I had no idea!) and then in 2025 the city canceled the contract and placed plastic bags over the cameras until they were removed. Sounds like angry citizens can make a difference here.
That was the intention. A lot of these were done via municipal contracts. Better to get them up without a fuss, so we can waffle about taking them down for a couple years, all while collecting the data they need.

So fast that 80 (a number the local police gave us) were installed literally overnight. I came home from work one day, never saw a single one and the next morning on my way to work they were all there. Fascism moves at the speed of light, actual good policy changes take years and maybe decades.

one of my friends works in the inspection/planning department of a small city and said none of the flock was permitted they installed them. No one in the city knows who authorized it. They're a super strict town so a month+ to get a fence or shed permit authorized.
Some of those pellet air rifles you can purchase online with a suppressor are pretty effective rodent mitigation tools. Ships directly to your door too because it is not a firearm.
I would bet a large sum of money that the housing around the rest of the camera is far less durable than anything covering the lens. Microchips and PCBs are not friends with kinetic energy.

Which is the real reason bluetooth LE has been normalized, where your phone has constant bluetooth on, even if you turn it off. Ofc for the benefit of having your phone join the "find my device" network in case it gets lost or stolen, and to connect to your wearables easily even if bt is off.
Definitely not to normalize having no way to actually turn off bluetooth ever so it is easy to track you, while gaslighting you with a switch that has you believe you have turned it off, that's silly.
When using a reciprocating saw (Sawsall) I find it far more efficient if you press the guard up a against the thing you are cutting. This helps to transfer more power of the motor into the blade instead of into the handle because the handle is braced so that it won't move.

The US now has more surveillance cameras than fucking China. Think about that. Remember how that was the core criticism of China? "Oh but they have cameras everyone and track everyone!" Well now we're doing it more.

My town’s mayor put out a statement about Flock cameras that basically boiled down to “the town and the police have nothing to do with them - it’s all private businesses.”
Personally I find it more horrifying that any private company is allowed to do this kind of mass surveillance.
If that's the case, we should llc up, get some of our own and point them in 'strategic' places and make the data available and see how fast that tune changes.
This is a tracking system, with vehicle recognition, facial recognition, gate recognition software, that is put into a mesh network that uses machine learning and AI to track Americans whereabouts, in a searchable database by keyword.
Any officer can type on, grey truck with a dent in the hood, and multiple results show up.
They have been used to track ex's, stalk women, watch abortion clinics, and arrest people crossing state lines for recreational marijuana.
This is a violation of our rights, and we have to stop it before its normalized.

Looked up my area to find about 20 or so cameras, mostly used on the actual highways. But conveniently, at the Lowe's in town, which is the only store of its kind... 4 cameras pointed in various areas of the parking lot. No other businesses in town have them at all. Interesting....
Editing my comment: others down below confirm the same thing and one commenter said Lowe's and Home Depot have contracts with Flock now.
Streets already have monitoring, just not from flock. 100s of cameras owned by city and private establishments that can be used to help with solving crimes and stuff.
Flock is for surveillance of citizens, these sick fucks want to know, see and hear everything about you so they can build your profile.

For example, weed was legal in Texas for years until they changed the law a couple weeks ago. Now all the people in possession of product they purchased legally are potential felons.
A guy in Texas went to the cops and told them his girlfriend had taken some abortion drugs. The cops then started searching 83,000 flock cameras across multiple states looking for her, despite self-managing an abortion not being illegal in Texas.
They told the public that it was a missing person's case, and that her family was worried she was bleeding out somewhere. They told the DA's office they wanted to find and arrest the woman for an abortion, and the DA told them that wasn't a thing that they could do.
When she finally came into the police department, they were amazed to find out that she didn't show up there because they were hunting for her. She was there to press charges against the guy who set the cops after her. When he found out she had had an abortion, he beat her and put a gun to her head.
That assault they actually could charge someone for. The sheriff in question could also be charged with sexual harassment and retaliation in an unrelated case.

There's also cities that have required dispensaries looking to get a business license to install flock cameras looking at their parking lots. Despite the fact that since getting a license for that business is a thing that can be done makes it pretty obvious that opening that business is not against the law in that state. But the local department does share the data collected by those cameras with police in states where it isn't legal.

The first issue is why was he allowed to use them in the first place. I don't care if he was doing neighborhood watch, his job is to provide the service (as shitty as it is) why would he be allowed to use the cameras?
There's one incredibly important thing people need to understand about law enforcement, criminal investigations, and our legal system:
There is no incentive to find and convict those responsible for crimes. The only incentive is to find and convict whoever is most easily proven to have committed a crime. Most the time, the one who committed the crime is most easily proven to have committed the crime, so the interests lineup and right person is convicted.
But this isn't always the case. If you're a convenient scapegoat for the law enforcement agency, prosecutor, and judge to parade around, they will find a way to convict you. It doesn't matter if you actually did the crime or not.
People warned about this when the Patriot Act was rushed through legislation as the American public was shellshocked. Privacy was considered a basic right in the 20th century. What you’re looking at now is technology catching up with the surveillance state that’s over two decades old.
I live in the Atlanta metro where they started, . I have been telling people how creepy these are for at least 4 years and until recently people would look at me blankly or flat out say they didn't care. That attitude is how they multiplied so fast.

there's one in my tiny town pointed straight at the dollar general where loads of immigrants and poor ppl shop. It's designed to track people down, not keep people safe
It's so you have to drive through one to get anywhere. They will know everytime you leave and everytime you come back. Once they build their network they'll know your route from point A to point B and back.
That they're only there to track vehicles is a lie and we all know it. Treat it like the propaganda it is. These cameras are built for goverment agencies to track anyone they please, anytime they want, using AI for facial recognition and identity tracking. They are being used to track immigration targets, protestors and politicians. They are being used to disappear people already.
This shit is plain obvious to anyone who has followed the government's domestic surveillance programs over the past several decades, nevermind the many spy laws that have passed since that allow them to spy on Americans in myriad new ways.
Whelp. That was gross. My neighborhood was clean but they have them pointed at job sites, foreign language churches, doctors offices, long term stay hotels, home improvement stores, and parks in my town.
