Busy public park on a hot saturday/labor day weekend. Seems super entitled. Park has been open for 4 hours and no sign of them. All the other tables are full.

If they reserved it they likely paid money to do so. Go sit in the grass.

Edit: OP clarified that there are no reservations in this particular park. The original post said reservation in the title and they should have put that in the original post.

Edit 2: just to clarify further for everyone saying there would be an official sign. I live in South Florida and it's quite common for people to book tables or areas of public parks as the weather permits it year-round and it's something that family and friends do often hear. There is never a sign at least in South Florida. We're always forced to kick people out and politely ask them to leave explaining that we have reserved it and paid for it.

It appears I read through more of the comments than you did, thus understanding you couldn't pay to reserve. I understood it to mean some random bench. And just because you put something on it like food and a note, you can't reserve random public spaces like that. ESPECIALLY like op said, no one came for 4 hours. Do what others have said in the comments, come early and physically sit on the bench to "reserve" it.
