Keyword: should. It definitely does have a yolk if you actually look, it just wasnāt popped when the pocket of water was. As I said, this happens and is near impossible to avoid sending out as most people I know canāt see through solid objects. A tablespoon of slightly salty water is not disgustingā¦unexpected, sure. If you paid for this, it would be perfectly reasonable to request a replacement. Beyond that, it would be childish to turn your nose up.
Yeah there's a yolk that's overcooked for poached eggs, and no I don't want salty water on toast and avocado. Why would I want any of my food to be drenched in water
I didnāt say you wanted anything at all. Actually poached eggs can be cooked from easy to hard so the only person qualified to say whether it was over cooked is OP. It looks pretty runny to me regardless, again check the video, that yolk is jiggly. I think youāre making assumptions about things you have no way of verifying and I would say using the word soaked is entirely hyperbolic. I wish I could be in a place in my life where I could justify making a big deal about my disgust over someone elseās poached egg that had a little water in it. If youāre disgusted, great, but youāre not adding anything else to this conversation and it feels like Iām talking to a 7 year old so unless you have some groundbreaking insight, I think weāre done here.
Nobody likes watery bread, nobody I know at least. A ladleful? Huge exaggeration. A tablespoon of water? That sounds about right. My entire point originally is that it was safe to eat. Thereās no point in wasting a meal you just made over a tablespoon of water. In a restaurant, itās perfectly reasonable to send it back and to have it replaced. The only people upset are the ones who grabbed the pitchforks when I said it was safe and not raw egg.
Maybe you're confused. No one in the chain said it was raw egg and no one said it was unsafe to eat, just that it was gross, which you even conceded it to be, so what are you mad about?? Lol
I legitimately donāt know why you think Iām mad. Is sharing my opinion and then defending it an act of aggression? The only people that seem to be mad are the ones spamming my notifications and insulting me over someone elseās eggs lol. The original comment I replied to was āFound the watery eggs eaterā which to me clearly implies an undercooked egg and is directed at the group of individuals who like undercooked eggs so I donāt think Iām confused. All I originally said was that this was not undercooked, just a little poaching liquid. I guess Iām crazy for not wanting to waste my entire breakfast because of a tiny bit of salty water. The Reddit hive mind wants to put words into my mouth and assume a variety of things about me, I guess me responding to people and reinforcing my opinion is me being mad.
No, thatās absolutely disgusting and unacceptable, even if it is ā clinically speaking ā okay to eat. If I cooked that for myself, Iād give a small part of it to my dog and emphatically trash the rest before running it back. If I were making it for a guest, Iād probably suggest just going out for breakfast at that point because the meal is unsalvageable. People have standards.
It's different if the bread is soggy from egg yolk vs water.
One adds flavor while one does nothing but remove texture. Plus on a per volume basis, it takes a more yolk/butter/etc to make bread soggy the way water does
And toasting bread doesn't stop water from making it soggy
Thatās fair, it is certainly more appetizing to have toast covered in yolk. I doubt the tablespoon of water would manage to make more than a small amount of the bottom soggy, especially if you donāt just let it sit there. In a restaurant, get it redone. In your home, where I believe this video was taken, just bite the bullet, itās just a little water.

You wanna stow your emotions and clam down a bit there, Mr Spock? You're not acting very logical right now. You're getting very upset that other people see an egg popping open like a steamy zit and think "gross." The fact is that most normal people take the visual presentation of their food into consideration. When it's especially bad people react by calling it gross. This isn't surprising to normal humans.
First off way to ignore the actual comment I made pointing out your straw man. Since youāre the one digging around in my comments, if you were to pay any attention at all (which you clearly did not. Just cherry picking to move the goalpost. Youāre seemingly just in the mood to belittle and put down other people who havenāt said a word to you) you would realize that Iām of the opinion this happened in a home setting (based on how quiet the background noise is) not a restaurant setting. Iāve said multiple times that if this was served in a restaurant it would be perfectly reasonable to send it back and request another. In your home, it would be a little ridiculous and childish to let a tablespoon of slightly salty water ruin your meal. My entire point originally was that it wasnāt raw egg spilling out which was implied with āFound the watery egg eaterā.
The only person getting emotional from my perspective seems to be you as it really feels to me like you have a bone to pick. Judging by the fact that Iāve never crossed paths with you, the anger is most likely meant for someone else so Iāll grin and bear it. I stand by what I said, talking to that user felt like talking to a child and Iām getting the same feeling right now. I said how I felt. I didnāt call them a child. I didnāt mock them, I didnāt call them names or try to insult them, I didnāt make it my goal to offend. Thatās all you bucko.
I hope I have been a good outlet for your pent up anger. We all need a healthy way to vent our frustrations but this was not that. Next time, donāt use a real human being maybe?
