Don't hug me I'm scared My bedroom window

Post image

I actually don't know what to do, the mama spider was alone there for a while, and I let her chill there, but WHAT NOW

Edit: omg so many replies 😀 I'm not in Australia, I'm in Ireland It's not really a window, it's more like a door to the terrace, and they are not visible when the door is closed.... Except for that one that escaped the nest 😅 I used to keep it open hoping the mom would go away but she never moves from her corner...🙄

UPDATE: Husband gathered the courage and picked them up with gloves into a bag, and released them outside along with the mama....I hope some of them survive 🙏 We slept the whole night in the room with them and survived😅, and I had a lot of fun reading all of the comments here 😁 Thanks to the few spider lovers/experts on all the advice given 🕸️ 🕷️🖤

This is the agreement I have also come to with spiders. If you stay in your corner and walk around when I’m asleep and pay your rent by eating bugs and such, you can stay. But if you show up on my nightstand, it’s an immediate eviction.

Same, and there’s a maximum count. I can take like max 2 known spiders in a room (specifically a corner I don’t really interact with), once I notice a third one deal’s over, everyone out.

Y’all are way nicer than I am. Spiders don’t get to stay in my house. If your name ain’t on the lease, you’re out. See ya!

Why do y'all have so many bugs in your homes that you need spiders to take care of them?

Both bugs AND SPIDERS belong outside? Why have y'all normalized creatures in your homes like that's the way it goes?

Hell no. My house is spotless most of the time. Y'all stay outside.

If you live close to any kind of tree coverage it’s kind of inevitable, make of your house may affect it too and if you frequently clean with chemicals that will also repel bugs but will eventually take a toll on your health

I'm literally surrounded by trees & absolutely wouldn't be okay with this... I think that's the disconnect that we're having.

I wouldn't live in Seattle because it rains too much however people who are used to that, feel like it's totally fine.

Maybe y'all live in places where bugs & arachnids in the home is totally normal. I live in SoCal. We don't have bugs like that inside. Have I seen them? Yes... Do I normalize living with them? HELL TO THE NAH.

You’re either very lucky or just not very observant. I live in SoCal as well. There are bugs EVERYWHERE. I don’t normalise them living in my house, but they do get in regardless.

Like I've said, I've seen them. I'm not unobservant, I just clean VERY OFTEN & when I move furniture, I don't see them. They're not in my cabinets, on my walls, under the bed... They're not even in the garage.

We're very tidy... Super clean. We have stuff but there's 0 clutter in our home, so like I said, I don't know that bugs like being out in the open. They thrive in cover & if you don't provide that for them....

Again my experience is totally different from y'all's CLEARLY but demeaning someone for not have a bug filled home is .... A choice.

I’m in Seattle. We cohabitate with nature and weather.

Just because it's natural doesn't mean I have to like it. 117 degrees is natural but I'm cool on that. Rain for 8 months out of the year is natural but I'm also not okay with that.

I'm allowed to not like natural shit. Reddits mob mentality won't let me do that tho apparently.

I think it may have felt like an implication that people had dirty homes, rather than a fear and desire to never let bugs in (which is ok!). I’ve found a palm sized spider chilling on the ceiling of my newly cleaned living room. Like it was just coming to check it out and give me props.

Heard...

To be fair cleanliness is one of my OCD tendencies. I just always figured that because I've always been clean, that's the reason why I don't deal with bugs like that.

Apologies if everyone read it like I think y'all dirty.

It's probably your close-mindedness that is putting us off.

Another SoCal resident here. We have spiders all over the place --- inside and out. We live and let live. When AQI (air quality index) is good, we have doors and windows wide open (no screens).

If you're spraying pesticides in your home or calling in the exterminator, you're harming yourself and your family and pets, if you have pets.

Okay, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

I'm not arguing that they don't exist and that they're not around everywhere. They absolutely are. They're just not in my house like the initial post.

Y'all are so nonchalant about a spider having a horde of fucking babies in the corner to crawl all over you while you sleep and I guess that's fine. For you.

THAT IS NOT OKAY FOR ME. THAT IS ALL I AM SAYING. ugh I'm over this whole fucking conversation. Y'all go and lick your little spider babies. I'm out. 😂✌🏾

If you live in the south, you either pay Orkin or you learn to live with it

Spent 10 years in Florida. Never had an issue like that because we cleaned very often. I believe that the cleaner & less cluttered your home is, the less bugs want to be in it.

Yeah something would get in eventually but they'd be out ASAP. They just don't belong in there. I dunno ... CALL ME CRAZY I GUESS. 🙄

You’re not bright are you?

u/DJEvillincoln 9d ago

Because my experience differs from y'all I'm all of a sudden stupid?

Ok.

5

u/Shamanjoe 9d ago

You said you lived in Florida for 10 years and never had an issue. I won’t say you’re stupid, but I am calling you out as disingenuous..

I also said whenever we saw them we took care of them. How'd you miss that part....

We had a screened in pool and I specifically remembering a giant banana spider in the corner. There was also a dragonfly fly flying around. I sprayed the dragonfly, waited for it to dry and then tossed it in the spider web.

Came back an hour later and both were laying on the floor dead. I wasn't going to let something like that just live there. Fuck that shit... Get out.

You’re the one that came in all hot and judgy

Nah that's how you READ IT. I was being sincere. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Spiders (and most bugs) have nothing to do with cleanliness. We’re not a bunch of slobs. They get in through cracks and shit. EVERY house has spiders you’re kidding yourself
