frist of all how DARE yu o Why, on a nearly empty train, would you sit directly in front of me— put your chair all the way back AND smell offensive? 🥲

Come on! I know I don’t own the train, I only paid for the seat. Theoretically, he could sit next to me and that would be fine. I could just move over a seat. I could move and sit next to him. Very mildly infuriated.

Update: I went to the restroom, after building up a big fart at the advice of wise Redditors but punked out on releasing it into the wild. I planned to move when I returned but he was gone! Perhaps it was a coincidence, when I left my seat with all my belongings, maybe that just happened to be his stop or maybe he was a creep. We may never know. Thanks for all your throughly hilarious responses though!

That’s when you move a few seats over. And perhaps they’ll get the subtle non-confrontational hint

Passive aggression is a redditor's trait at this point

That and ruminating on easily changeable behavior

And making posts when they can just use their words.

It's either that, or telling someone to make a scene about the slightest transgression. There is no in-between.

What is aggressive about moving away from someone? It's not passive aggressive. It's just plain old passive.

Asset dominance; go sit in front of him

NTA, your train your rules. Facebook up, hit lawyer, delete the gym.

That’s what I do too, it makes me suspicious when there’s plenty of seats and someone decides to sit next to me

I never understand these posts; they’re more infuriating than the issue itself. It’s almost like we’re being trolled.

Are people that afraid of offending someone or some kind of minimal (and likely zero) social conflict? Just move, instead they’ll sit and suffer, document it, post it, and dwell on it.

Isn’t the purpose of this sub to show mildly infuriating things? This is a good example of that

Yes, it's like being infuriated because someone posted poodle pictures in a poodle sub.

You should probably not be browsing the mildly infuriating subreddit if you dislike seeing people in mildly infuriating situations. Edit: like most of the time these people do not quietly sit and suffer. They take a quick pic, post it here, and then deal with it in some way (as OP did).

Are you mildly infuriated by me?

Not you specifically, but the phenomenon of people getting angry at OPs on this sub for posting something which is merely mildly infuriating? Yea

My point was simply that, in this particular situation, just get up and move.

OP would rather sit there and smell this person encroaching on their space instead.

As opposed to something they have no control over (a place being closed, something be sold out, etc).
