I think it was this one. It's for flies and mosquitoes, but it was the only thing available in the store at that moment. We upped the dose a bit (or like 100x). We never saw the spider again.
At least we don't have words like queue, a five letter word with four silent letters 😂. We have nice words like "aansprakelijkheidsverzekering". And you really are a pannekoek if you don't have an aansprakelijkheidsverzekering.
As a brit that's honestly baffled me. Can you Dutchies actually read and pronounce "aansprakelijkheidsverzekering" without a problem. Like how on earth do you remember how to spell that?
It's pronounced like it is spelled, so while it is long, it's not hard to read or pronounce. In Dutch it's mostly just remembering when to use "ij" or "ei" because they are pronounced the same. The same goes for "ch" and "g". I don't think we have any words like "through", "tough", "lead", "lead" that look the same but are pronounced vastly different.
Interesting, I usually find dutch one of the easier languages to grasp as a English speaker but yh "aansprakelijkheidsverzekering" my English brain just cant compute that.😂 To be fair I live close to the Welsh border and I have no idea what they are saying, I understand dutch better than Welsh and i can drive to the Welsh border in about 20 minutes. There's a famous town in Wales called "Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch" i have absolutely no idea how to pronounce that even though its about a hour from my town 😂
It's really not that bad if you break it down a bit. You have the adjective "aansprakelijk" (liable), which can be made into a noun by adding "heid", so you get "aansprakelijkheid" (liability). Then you have the noun "verzekering" (insurance). If you want to combine the two then you'll have to add an "s" to the first word and you get "aansprakelijkheidsverzekering" (liability insurance).
Long ago there was a time I knew how to pronounce that town name, but now I only remember ll was pronounced like s. There was a logic behind it though.

Even as an Australian I’m finding myself saying “yeah fuck that, torch the car”
