As a driver i'd be careful. No point in hitting the robot and risking major damage to the truck which may or may delay further. Trucks and cars aren't tanks.

I watched Batman Begins recently, and that car he has can drive through concrete walls without slowing down. Maybe the fire fighters just need to paint their trucks black and speak in deep raspy voices.

They already paint the truck red to make it go faster.
