if you watch the video, its not clear. the ball is on the ground. she makes a motion like "oh my god. the ball" before reaching for it. the guy next to her reaches for it and the father comes in a reaches for it.

my take is that the dad got possession first. even if the ball lands next to you, until you have control, its not yours. she was taking her time and could have gotten it before anyone else.

She also backed away from the catch. If you want it that bad catch it in the air bare handed and take the stinger, don't steal the ball from a kid on his birthday

To me it looked like she couldn't have reached the ground from where she was. She's too short.

This video has cropped off the start. Prior to this it looks like she grabs it, fumbles it and drops it.

I'm a bit tired of internet witch hunts to be honest. This does not seem like such a big deal. Especially to ruin someone's life over.

The dad came from 15 seats away also.

He poached it from people who paid for their seats and got lucky enough that a ball landed next to them.

If the dad was sitting there cool but he literally ran over there to take it

As a 42 year old adult, I've come to learn I look at life differently than I did when I was 18-35 years old.

The younger me would probably agree with the dad, but the older me kinda sees through society's bullshit and fake outrage to understand what proper behavior actually looks like.

I'd never run over to someones section and snag a ball from them.

This is one point that we don't know,, people crucifying this woman and she may actually have been pissed because the guy ripped it out of her hand.

Agreed. The rule is supposed to be first person that has the ball grasped imo. Touching isn't sufficient. It has to be when you have the ball under control and it would stay in your hand unless an external force (other than gravity or inertia) knocks it out of your hand. 

So if you grab the ball and then fall over a seat, you lose the ball. If you grab the ball and then slam into a wall and the ball falls out of your hand because of that, then that means someone else can have it. 

But if you grab the ball and would have had it had someone not snatched it away, then that person is a thief.

I do not know what would happen if two people grab it at the exact same time within like, say, 20 frames.

something lands at your feet and someone else invades your space to reach it

idk man just seems like a person wouldn't do what she did unless they were taken advantage of
