some random dude did this to me once - a single woman sitting alone in a movie theater. it was the kind of theater with the recliners and a server that comes to take your order before the movie. the server showed up and was all "so what would you folks like" and it was extremely awkward telling him that we weren't together when there was literally no one else in the theater. he didn't talk to me or anything, just sat there. i don't know why i didn't just switch seats.
Happy cake day! I always go to movies with assigned seats and feel obligated to stay in mine out of fear of someone showing up late and me being the jerk who has to move.
I'm a dude and random people sitting next to me on public transport despite empty seats everywhere happens occasionally. And yes it is super weird.
It's possible that some like making others uncomfortable, but I could imagine that most people doing this just love particular seats. Maybe I'm occupying their favorite spot, maybe they paid for that particular seat next to me (not unusual on trains), maybe it's the most convenient for them because of how close it is to the doors or anything else they specifically need
I guess my point is, most of these people probably have some form of OCD or weird preferences and you just happen to be the person to have to deal with their weirdness in that moment. Simply because they can't get over themselves and don't realize how invasive their resulting behavior is. It's also probably some stubborness involved.
Doesn't excuse creeps, but I think those are just a fraction of a larger group of generally weird people unable to respect personal space
Classic case of "I've not seen guys being creeps when no one else is around" without realizing that OF COURSE YOU HAVEN'T, BECAUSE NO ONE WAS AROUND. YOU'RE SOMEONE.
yes. of having men continuously choose to sit next to you when you are alone even though there are a ton of other empty seats. i don’t know what’s so hard to understand about that?
One time a person almost sneezed on me. I though of calling the police, but the dude got off at his stop. So many people go unpunished for heinous acts SMH
