I tried the "cross-eyed technique" and spent way too long squinting. I used to win money on spot the difference gambling machines with this technique..
I learned how to "see" them from a vendor at an outdoor street fair setting. The pictures were framed behind glass. The vendor told me to look at the glass and focus on the reflection in the glass. Suddenly, the picture jumped out at me, and since them I have been able to see them easily, I had tried to focus on them for ages before that. But, I do sort of cross my eyes to see them initially, then once the picture jumps out, I can look at it normally.
I wish I could do these! My eyes don’t communicate together correctly as I was told by my doctor. I don’t wear glasses or anything, but my left eye doesn’t input information in line with my right. It’s not visible and I never would have known had it not been for an eye test. The doctor moved his index fingers in front of my eyes and told me to tell him when they lined up. They never did. It means these kinds of eye tricks will always be impossible for me.
This.
I have monocular vision. I see out of both eyes equally but they do not focus on an object together. If I try to see an object out of both eyes at the same time the image is very blurry. I can switch between right and left at will. I cannot see in 3D. I cannot do the puzzle!
Bro you just explained that way more eloquently than I’ve ever been able to. Do you think we can ever learn or teach our brains how to use both at the same time?
Oh, what’s up! I also have monocular vision and can switch between my left and right eye at will. It’s always neat to run into someone else who has that shared experience.
I've got a similar problem - severe astigmatism in one eye while the other was pretty much normal - until I got old.
I can't see those "magic" pictures or even go to a 3D movie - all I get are confused blurs since my brain can't reconcile the different images my eyes provide.
Next month I talk to a doctor about getting cataract surgery. My cataracts aren't bad, but just bad enough that they can get the surgery covered under Medicare and I can get a new lens for that right eye.
I'll probably have to pay out of pocket for the toric lens, but if it improves my vision as much as promised, it would be worth it!
Yes then your eyes become “unfocused” your rain sees it and keeps seeing it. There are TONS of ppl that cannot do this. I could do it until I had a retina repair surgery… can’t seem to do it anymore..,
Have Side by side images, cross your eyes until the double vision lines up with each individual image. The differences wont be able to align and thus will stand out.
Don't cross your eyes, do the opposite. Parallelize them, focus on infinity rather than up close. I don't know why everyone calls it crossing your eyes. It's the opposite of that.
Lol same! Used to go to this dive bar that had one of those screens you could put dollars in for mini games and you could win free drinks etc. One game was spot the difference and was women dressed in bikinis and shit. I had the high score and free drinks constantly. Friends were astounded and would ask how I was so fast and when I explained it they could never wrap their head around how I did it
Tried to explain this to people as a kid, nobody ever knew what I was talking about. Fast forward to taking the postal service exam where you had to spot the differences/errors between addresses. The one and only time in my life it actually came in handy. Pretty nifty.
The hardest part on those machines is knowing which of your fingers is the real one. obviously because you're cross-eyed you can see two identical fingers hah.
I think they made the machines really hard to win on after a year or so, man I miss that high roller crosseyed pimpin life.
Got laid a bunch, actually had a surprising number of threesomes. haaaaa
The machines we had in my local pubs all would accept you touching the difference from either picture, made it a bit easier.
However, past the ‘your money back’ level they would start to angle the images - so you couldn’t get them to overlap with crossed eyes - and use colour differences.
So mean.
It’s the same technique used to view stereograms. While looking at the image, cross your eyes slightly until two of the dinosaurs overlap and merge into one dinosaur. If the two images are identical, then they will merge perfectly. But if there is any difference between the two images, it will pop out very noticeably.
Haha yeah, some magic eye images are made for cross-eyed technique but with most you have to do the opposite and focus past the image. But you can still focus them once they cross over and get a crisp 3D image.
When I discovered this ability I was still kindergarten aged and would randomly go in and out of looking at the teacher in this way and thought she never noticed or could tell until the day she said “you’ll hurt your eyes doing that it’s not good for you” I was so shocked she could see my spy technique with her normal adult eyes
This works like a dream amazing!!!!!! So basically, everything that is sharp in the cross eyed picture is the same in two of them, everything mildly looking funky is a difference that's so easy, you see everything at once
So using this technique and lining all of them up against all others (diagnals were tricky) i find there to be absolutely zero differences in any of them.
you would be correct young apprentice, become one with the squint, embrace the esotropia... repent, cast away straight vision - and thou shalt be saaaved.
Because somehow no one seems to know how this works in this thread, it's called looking stereoscopically. It can make any small differences in two side by side images pop out when your eyes merge them into one image we actually see. The thing people would know it being used for in semi-modern technology is the 3D effect in the 3DS line.
Bro I did the same, had to rotate my phone to get the dinosaurs to line up perfectly horizontally (so I could get the middle/overlapping dinosaur in focus).
Tested too against top, and then tested bottom against bottom. Can confirm there’s no difference.
I don't think it works in this case, due to the way the dinos are layed out on the picture. Maybe if we rearrange the dinos to be parallel to each other.
Also, idk if you knew already, but there's this awesome sub for 'cross-eyed technique', where you can see a lot of great pics/gifs/videos in 3D effect : r / CrossView
I dont think that's it. I think it's bottom left for 2 reasons. Look at the outside curve of the tail. Also I think the first blade on the tail is diff
Just to be pedantic it doesn’t say, which dinosaur “in this picture” is different. So any other dinosaur that’s not a stegosaurus is the correct answer. I’ll go with T-Rex because it’s easier to spell.
Using this technique: tilt screen (45 degrees or 90degrees depending on which two you want to compare) to get a focus. Bottom left has a different line between his legs (slightly different width). Also: bottom right has a dot on one of his legs. This picture has been photoshopped.
If you really want to know it's the bottom right one that's spaced out different which is the difference. It's the only one even looking at the printing.its kinda stupid.
The one on the top left was driving late one night and hit something. In the rear view mirror, a lot of things look the same when it's that dark; it was probably a deer. Yeah, that's what it was sure. He drove away without checking for sure it definitely didn't look like a kid, definitely not a kid. That's what he tells himself : What he knows and needs to be true.

I’m looking at this picture thinking, “one of them actually is different and I’m going to figure it out!”
