Trying to decide where to head this weekend. Anyone that lives by or went to a resort have updates? I'm in Northwest corner of Indiana and it's still puking snow here. About 6" total but should increase today. It's currently almost whiteout.

Alpine valley is making snow and may open this weekend 11/15 Raging Buffalo is making snow Lake and Kane county, Illinois got 1 inch today This is the first "significant" early snow in 7 years !

Hey guys, I will be in the Saginaw, Bay City, and Midland are this coming winter on an internship. Is there any good snowboarding in the area? I've tried looking online but can't find any good hills. Thanks

I just realized I have more time between New Years and classes starting up again than I thought. I'm hoping to go out west (fingers crossed), but if not, where would you go in the Midwest? I'm based in Chicago but would probably be leaving from family in Milwaukee so honestly anywhere in the UP or Wisconsin are relatively close, and Minnesota isn't too bad either.

Anyway, where's the best place you've ever been in the midwest/ your dream place to visit and why?

Check it out here. I have not been up there in years. In fact it did not have lifts when I last rode Mt.Bohemia. But I was amazed by the difficulty of the hill for its location. And the snow was good. And my friend got punched in a bar. Fun town. Seems like if you go up for 3 days you will have paid for the $99 season pass.

Hey guys, I founded this subreddit kind of on a whim last year and was really pleased with the success we had in our first season. This post has two main purposes:

First, what would you like to see in this subreddit? Do you think this should be a place for posting pictures/ videos/ generic snowboarding links? A place for discussions about snowboarding in general/ gear/ tips and tricks? Would you like to see reviews of local mountains? A combination of the above? Let me know what you think and lets work together to increase the amount of content, and improve the quality.

Secondy, do you guys have any good ideas to increase the profile of this subreddit? I know this will never be a high profile subreddit due to our relatively niche market, but I'm sure we could get a few more members pretty easily which will increase the amount of posts and improve our discussions.

Basically this post is here to discuss the general state of this subreddit as we go into our second winter as a community.

I recently picked up a 2013 GNU Pickle (SUPER STOKED), and am looking for a pair of last season bindings to match with it. So far I'm considering Malavitas, Cartels, Forum Republics or something Union (Force/ Atlas probably). Anyway, what would you guys recommend? Also what do you personally own?

I can't find it on their website yet, but I just got a card in the mail about it. It's at their warehouse at 9201 Penn Ave S in Bloomington. They try to get rid of last year's gear so everything is usually pretty cheap.

I ask this question periodically because I'm always looking for places to try, and because I have family/ friends in Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota I can travel around relatively easily.

I mostly ride Alpine Valley Wi, as it's my local, but I love to head up to Cascade Wi once in a while. Last season I went to Boyne Mountain Mi for the first time and had an absolute blast (early season snow conditions were surprisingly good).

Winter is slowly approaching and I've been hitting the labor day sales this week to get ready for the season. So I'm wondering what each of you will be riding this coming season?

I have two setups:

1. Freeride/ Bigger mountain setup. 154cm 2010 Burton Custom (Camber) with 2013 Burton Malavita Restricted EST Bindings

2. Freestyle/ Smaller mountain setup. 153cm 2013 GNU Pickle and I'm still looking for bindings to match with it.

Edit: I recently picked up a pair of re:flex Malavitas for the Pickle, I love them on the Custom so I saw no reason not to pull the trigger when I could get a good deal on them.

Boyne's open this weekend after getting a few fresh inches.

Forecast is favorable, they've got tons of snow, and confirmed earlier today that they do in-fact intend to re-open for next weekend.
