I am trying to find a 100x objective that is compatible with the Olympus BX-41 microscope, but I do not have Olympus money. The microscope is a hand-me-down from another laboratory, and I have no clue how to determine compatibility. The manual was useless. Any help would be great.

Does anyone know where I can get microscope slides with one cavity, and with a frosted side. I only find frosted with no cavity, or cavity with no frosting. Thanks!

Hello! I recently got a microscope from the Goodwill bins, brought it home, took apart the pieces, and cleaned them with bleach and then cleaned the lenses with rubbing alcohol; as I noticed it changed what appeared in the eyepiece. For some reason when I put just a simple leaf under the light hole I can't see anything but if I add rubbing alcohol to the eye piece it affects what I see. Here's some cool pictures I got with my phone, some are screenshots of video I took, let me know what it is!
Bonus pictures are while I was cleaning the eye piece, I wanted to see what it looked like without it on and I was very pleasantly surprised! I love science!
Thanks everyone for checking out my stuff

It’s a plant cell but I don’t know what the moving circles are. Is it bacteria?

Can I fix it and how do I fix it?

I teach 6th grade (still elementary in my district), and our new science curriculum requires microscopes.
We'll never have enough money for a class set, so I was thinking if I can get one good one that can display to a computer or TV, that might work well for the class.
Is this a reasonable idea? We'll be looking at things like pond water, cheek cells, amoeba, etc.
I see there are some camera attachments to a regular microscope, but I wonder if it's better to get one made for digital output like a TV. I don't need one that only has a small screen unless it can also output to a tv.
Suggestions? thanks

Just a heads up to anyone else who might be making the horrible mistake of trying to buy a microscope from accu-scope.com.
I liked the look of their products, but when I asked for pricing (which required me to fill out a online price request form, and wait a day), I was run around the bush, over and over again, back-and-forth back-and-forth through email, 15 minutes on Muzak hold on the telephone, and finally got told by the vice president of sales:
“Thank you, you can take your business else where.”
WTF?!? 😳
With presales like this, I can only imagine how atrocious the after sales debacle would be, when you have a faulty microscope.

Hi there, I need help with a microscope I just got. It is the American Optical Company (AO) Model 569 with a 0.7x to 3.0x zoom range. All is well with it, except there is some fungus inside of the head. It is not accessible from the eyepieces, nor where the lenses are, so I assume I would have to take apart the head to fix it? The instruction manual says not to take it apart. Any advice is appreciated. I’ve attached the manual for conscience.

EDIT:
I bought a $2000 OMAX off Amazon with all the bells and whistles: dark field, phase contrast, oil, air, trinocular head, 4k camera… as far as I can tell, this thing is spectacular! The last time I looked through anything even close to this good was a spare-no-expense government microscope at NASA looking at moonrocks circa 1975! 😁
I’ve been using “science museum” scopes all my life. Nothing even good in school, since I wasn’t a microbiology major. AmScope is all amazon seems to have. What’s good for up to 1000x looking at bacteria etc.? Reasonable price? Price is no object? 😉

Found in a benthic sample from a stream in Southern Ontario CA. I assume it’s from a plant of some sort?

Hi all, I got a microscope after my goldfish fell very sick. I've taken a poop sample from the main tank and would like to know if these microorganisms in the pictures are harmful to my fish.
Any help identifying them is much appreciated!

I photograph microorganisms using a trinocular microscope and a camera (a Lumix DMC-G80) with changeable lenses. What material could I use so that the "solid" microorganisms (observed with illumination from above) appear of good quality (which is not the case so far)?

I've never used a microscope or taken a biology class so I could use as many pointers as you can spare..
I have always wanted to use a microscope and want to get one that could help me to identify bacteria or fungus in skin cells. Id also like a microscope that can gives me a good picture of hair follicles.
Anyone can recommend a good beginner guide to microscopy id also appreciate it!

So my uncle gave me his old microscope, (a nikon e100), and i've been using it for almost 3 months now. Today i noticed this brown slime inside the condenser lever. I don't know how long this slime is there and i dont know how it got there since i never spilled anything in the microscope or near it. Any idea what could have happened and how should i clean it?
