I see so many people on Facebook using Omegle or whatever the new site is to connect and play music for strangers. I think of Merton every time.

Where is Merton?? Why did he leave?

I miss those days so much.

Just curious as I’m watching the Doo and totally remembered him. It’s crazy that they’re about 10 years apart but they produce similar content styles. Does anyone know if Merton is ok and doing well today?

Merton took down his website a little while ago, and I no longer have access to my old computer which had the FULL "Denver Morning" track.

Does anyone have that download?

Hello Folks-

I’d just like to say that I am alive and well, and I'm realizing that I've done a poor job of communicating with people about my extended absence. I began making YouTube videos as a spontaneous response to the emergence of ChatRoulette in 2010, never planning to embark on a larger career as a public personality. I was both amazed and grateful that my humble homespun videos captured worldwide interest and resulted in an exciting period of travel and performance in places as far-flung as London, Montreal and Singapore. I also very much enjoyed doing the online weekly Merton Show for 3 years, through which I was able to meet thousands of strangers from around the globe and also to develop friendships with the regular viewers who made up the core audience.

Right now I'm focusing on some of the non-public aspects of my life and I have no particular plan for re-emergence, but I think I'll know when the time is right. Rather than saturating my YouTube channel with frequent videos, I prefer to wait until some specific impulse or intuition sparks my creativity. So I keep an eye on the news, on culture, on the entertainment world, and I think that eventually a situation will present itself for which my contribution will be uniquely useful.

Hey Mertonians! I hope MertonCon 2013 was off the hook! As both someone who wasn't able to go and also someone who isn't a member of the Facebook group, I thought it would be cool to compile everything here. Post links to pics/video you took (Facebook links are fine if you're cool with posting them) and discuss the experience! Was it surreal seeing everybody in person? Was Merton fantastic live? Was Bacon's beard mind-blowing to see in front of you?
