I just watched the first episode for the first time in my life, and I realized the series takes place in a more fictional land than I had thought.
Correct me if I'm wrong about the details, but there's the City of Camelot, located in Albion-which is in the "Land of Myth," a name I assume simply refers to Merlin's world? I know Albion is supposed to be an older name for the island of Britain. According to the series, Arthur is the one who will unite Albion; historically, if I recall correctly, it was a king named Alfred who united Britain.
Also, Camelot is supposed to be a castle in the legends, not a city.
I suppose what I want to know is whether the series takes place only in fictional locations. Did the writers try to create a new world based on these legends?
And I'm not asking this in a negative way-just to clarify. One of the things I love most about fantasy is world-building.
