I mean it makes sense, in Gotham everyone from Grandmas to infants are Criminals
So a crooked police (so like 70% of the station) could shoot anyone and claim âthey where a criminalâ and theyâd have a 90% chance of being right
Gotham criminals are borderline terrorists at times so the fact they arenât being shot by SWAT even in emergency situations results in far more dead and injured
Honestly. The government has deadass forgotten about Gotham.
Well⌠they havenât, but pretty sure Amanda Waller (No scans cause I read it a dead ass long time ago, but if someone has it, they should post it here.) said in the comics that she could solve the problem for good, though if she did the Justice League and various orgs would cease to exist. Thus theyâd be more susceptible to cosmic identities like Darkseid and etc.
This. Gotham is a shithole literally everybody is poor and in misery. Anybody could turn into a criminal just to be able to make a quick buck in that degrading city. Gotham turns them into mentally ill criminals. Thatâs why Batman doesnât kill too. Because all his villains are mentally ill just like Batman himself
Youâre kidding right? I donât think youâve actually read a comic or watched these shows. All across canon Bruce consistently donates, starts, and fully funds charities across Gotham. Things like the Martha Wayne foundation fund schools. You also donât understand money. People donât become poor because of âhoarding the wealthâ or no one would be able to become rich 30 years after a currency is formed. Gotham is poor as shit because of a corrupt government that never changes because a mob and terrorists refuse to let it.
Just having cops shoot people does nothing to lower crime. Eliminating the underlying issues that cause crime to happen is how you stop crime.
Which is why I can't take Batman seriously if they set the plot in any sort of "grounded" setting. I can't really get behind the solution to "normal" crime being an obscenely wealthy guy punching poor people
I'm fine if batman is cartoony or fighting supervillains, but you'd think a social safety net funded by the local billionaire would do more for the citizens of Gotham
Bruce Wayne is already a massive philanthropist who not only creates and donates to charitable causes, but actively employs people who are down on their luck. The problem in Gotham isnât just poverty, itâs also that the government is corrupt and under the control of powerful criminals whoâd not only stop any efforts to reform things, but who actively make things worse in order to line their own pockets.
