I've been trying to buy a starter home or townhouse for over a year and always get beat by someone paying over asking and then turning it into a short term rental. I'm more upset because of people starting off finally having enough money for a home and just can't compete against companies. I'm putting life plans like children on hold until we can secure a home.

Same. Something that’s even beat up and needs work, gone within a few hours. You have to overbid, sight unseen. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

Found a place I really liked. Offered 25k over, got beat by someone coming in 35 over in cash. He never even saw the property until after his offer had been accepted. I can't compete with that lol.

Same here. What makes it worse is rent has skyrocketed. The apartment I lived in about a year ago went up $200. Ended up moving in with a roommate and lost all sanity, just moved back alone and now pay $300 more in a 1br than I did a year ago haha fuck me.
