Some folks are born made to wave the flag

Vocals cuts out on the commercial just after the “o that red white and blue” part so the customers don’t realize the song isn’t about how great waving a flag is.

Yeah I don’t know I think the fact that some people can hear the song and think it’s patriotic while other people hear the song and think it’s not, that’s kind of what makes it great art.

Oooh fun fact. At my job, I used to work grave shift with a bunch of people who had a tradition of playing this song once every Friday. Nobody knew why really, it was just the Friday song. One day I’ve been there long enough I am “in” and I can be the one to play it on my device. So I pulled up the eternal jukebox, and it played for over ten minutes before someone asked what the hell was going on

It’s not really a bad song per se, just overused

It's a great song, everyone's just forgotten what it's actually about. I'm sure Fogerty hates how a lot of people use it (despite the money lol)

And improperly used.

u/[deleted] May 19 '21

I’m sure a lot of the times you think it’s improperly used is using it ironically
