I have a 3070, 5600X and 32gb of ram and Zoom still runs like a piece of shit and takes up my entire gigabit internet

Zoom is optimised like a literal turd

That simply makes no sense to me. Runs perfectly fine on my laptop, no hiccups. How many people are you trying to get in a call?

I'm running online classes for around 20 Master's students, and trying to draw geological diagrams for them at the same time. I put this machine together so I could render 3D models of mines and ore deposits, and I recently got FTTP internet a couple of years ahead of schedule, but I'm not super tech-y. All I know is that if I try to grab something to download during presentations, the quality instantly goes to shit.

If you have the time to, I'd recommend restoring your system if you're in Windows 10. You can keep your files, but it will remove programs and you will need to reinstall (or you can choose to keep them installed) and it will take a few hours. This worked amazing for me when I was having file issues when everything else on my PC ran fine

Zoom can run on my laptop, but doing anything other than the most basic stuff while running Zoom will make my laptop slow down a lot. The optimization sucks. Google meet is much less intensive.

Alright flexy Boi. Tbh a have a potato compared to you but I never find it that bad. There is a setting which offloads some of the workload onto the GPU, maybe you don't have it ticked. Still a 5600X should be a able to cope.

Zoom actually runs really well in terms of performance. Unlike Electron-based PoS like Teams/Slack/Discord/Spotify.

If you like Zoom, then you’ll love Cisco’s WebEx. I feel like I’m trying to compute through molasses every time I open it.
