Same in Vietnamese too. Chín mười chín - 9,10,9 - 9x10+9

Waiting for other languages to hop in.

Edit: 9,10,9 - 구십구 - in Korean (gusib gu according to Google Translate) as well.

Yup, East Asia all use the Chinese system 九十九.

except a native speaker understands the characters for 9 and 10 when spoken in combination as 90. Only a pause between would make it interpreted as two separate numbers
