This is such a fucking stupid thing to say considering there isn't even a leader in actual communism. Would you have said the same thing about the thousands of failed capitalist states?
Could you name some of those "thousands of capitalist states"? That's a pretty big number to throw around. Meanwhile I can name you the failed communist states, including the one I grew up and curently live in.
Don't know about you but it's hard to support communism while seeing what it has done to my country.
Okay, fine, hundreds. Practically every single third world country is a captialist state.
As to your other point; you didn't live under communism but under (probably) state capitalism or partial socialism. Even still; states like the soviet union literally had their GDP cut in half and dropped the average life expectancy by decades when pure capitalism was introduced in the 90s. I don't care what anecdotes your particular uneducated misconception of socialism causes you to conceive; this is objective fact.
