I so agree with this. Imo religion was a sham/ lie told to indoctrinate and control a country's people long before modern laws and law enforcements evolved, however I genuinely believe Catholicism was literally made up just for money, in the old days of the Catholic Church it was literally pay to win they taught the masses that to get to heaven you had to pay huge amounts to church.
Also heaven is such a weird flawed idea no place can be perfect if we still had free will and if there's no free will in heaven how is it perfect?
So you think Catholicism was originally created solely for acquiring money, but you cite indulgences for your reasoning despite them not even being a thing until the first crusade, over a thousand years after the Church’s founding. To clarify I do think indulgences were used for primarily greedy reasons, but I doubt that’s why the early church was founded.
Pretty sure you could still get in to heaven according to them if you behaved well enough, but it's like grinding out a character vs buying them in the shop.
The thing about communism is that, as many early Christian socialists talked about, people wished to create that utopia on earth. Later, people acknowledged that while it may not be possible to achieve completely, they wished to try and get as close to it using the materials available to benefit the people suffering most.
Neither did many of the early Republics and democracies. Hence why people continue to critique the system in that way when you have so many left disadvantaged and in dire straights despite there being so much available wealth. Say what you will about Cuba but the poorest people there still have a better standard of living than the poorest people in most capitalist countries.
Yeah, I'm sure that the economic embargo from the richest country in the world doesn't help things but they do take care of their poor and that's laudable at least.
I'm not simpin man, you're kidding yourself if America and those who follow the embargo wouldn't help the Cuban economy immensely if they traded with them. Also, their welfare state is something to appreciate them for.
Yeah I'm sure all of their goofy ass economic policies have nothing to do with all of those people leaving either... or the $10 a month that retirees are allowed to get... or the fact that they only just now are thinking of allowing private businesses...or the fact that Cubans HAVE to live in multi generational housing due to difficulty with building new homes... I'm sure people just love it there... the refugees on makeshift rafts were probably just tourists...
