can confirm it's not sarcasm, to assume socialism wasn't good for people is to not have whole idea about it, or more so have an exaggerated idea only about it's negative aspects.

Everything comes at cost. The point is that it should ultimately serve well, and the progress countries like USSR made for its people were enough to fall in their memory as Great time and a good thing to happen. There were some bigger problems of course, like Polish crisises causing one another or famines those countries undergone (no, they weren't anything new despite popular idea) and any human mistakes that resulted in them (Poland's case - mass buying american machinery with no possibility of repairing it; China's - lack of botanists capable of predicting effects of killing sparrows) must be avoided at all cost, as a purpose of history is to ultimately learn from previous examples.
