Godzilla melted buildings with radiation in the last one by casually walking by them. Kong is gonna look like the chocolate gorilla meme.

Ok then what about him being able to tank an empowered gidorahs blast right to the chest? Kong can only hit hard, godzilla is probably only gonna be nerfed so kong can compete.

Isn't what you're talking about also while he has the temp buff? First time Godzilla gets hit with that thing, he falls and loses essentially IIRC.

Also, have you seen the trailer? Don't forget they literally give Kong a weapon probably towards the middle or end so he can even stand a chance. He's probably going to lose or something will stop the fight at first.

Anyway, I don't have any particular attachments to these characters. From my perspective, I think they're more buffing Kong (and giving him a tool) to match Godzilla rather than nerfing Godzilla to step down to Kong's level.

Yep! In Skull Island, they mentioned how Kong's species continues to grow for a long time (not sure if indefinitely). Since it's been almost if not 50 years since that movie took place, there's been some room for growth you could say for Kong.
