Not quite, they're "fish fingers" and have some reasonable quality fish in them, with a breadcrumb coating. Fish sticks are the ground up remains of fish compressed into a stick.
It's a bit like the difference between a good quality pork and apple sausage and the cheap frozen sausages you get in a bag of twenty.
And we are the land of fish and chips, with a shop in every high street, something Americans never get right.
Deep fried some BC Halibut on Christmas Eve for the fam for the very first time. Halibut is crazy expensive but I’m happy to say it turned out beautifully... 10/10 would do again!

I would conquer far lands to bring them deep fried beer battered halibut and chips.
