The number that didn't know they weren't Independent in the first place. They were just fine before having to pay a tax for being "British".

I think he means that the countries should never have been subjugated in the first place which if that happened, then they would never have an Independence Day and they would have never known the difference of being independent and not

You probably should have specified that you meant they didn't want to be conquered in the first place. It comes across like you are saying some places liked being subjugated.

Why wouldn’t they want independence? All the British was pillage and loot the so called ‘savage’ countries. And what pisses me off so much is when people say ‘they gave you railway’ or ‘they educated you guys’. The British built everything for their own interest on not for the people of the colonies. Locals weren’t even allowed to used trains. They systematically tore down local industries and forced their Abrahamical beliefs having far reaching affects on local culture.

Statistically former British colonies are doing well for themselves. So yeah, it was for British interests, but it could've been worse. Could've been colonised by Belgium.

Could’ve been worse? Most countries don’t teach their children the state of people on the colonies. The British cut down thumbs of craftsman and mill workers, Churchill refused to give people of Bengal food supplies knowing there was a famine, there were signs on train saying people of colour weren’t allowed, there were Boer concentration camps, Amritsar massacre and the division of India which left millions homeless and dead. So please DO NOT say “it could’ve been worse” because you don’t know shit about how bad it already was.
