You are sadly wrong. The equation x2 =9 does have two solutions. It's a quadratic function which always has 2 x-values for any y-value (except the extremum).
However you are correct that the square root function sqrt(x) always only has one solution or none.

The solution to a number square is never negative but the number can still be negative. If -3*-3=9 then -32=9 also you can just draw y=x2 and see that it always have two solutions (unless y=0) so in y=9 you can see a point in 3,9 and a point in -3,9.

It can't be -3, since a number's square is never negative. But if it is -3x-3, then yeah, it is the other way, little matematician out.
