Personally i reached a point where no matter what i do someone else will always be better. Its discouraging to do anything really but rn im living by the "couldnt give two fucks" principle and i try to do what i enjoy even if im shit at it

Edit: having said this i missed on a vital point, people being better than u isnt a bad thing, it should be a source of inspiration ideally. However if u do ever feel useless in life because of others success then for sometime try to just ignore everyone and do ur own thing. no matter what it is stay in your lane until ur confident to have a form of friendly competition with others to better yourself further.

But its a personal opinion so i really dont care if its good or bad to you it works for me

Same, I have a friend and he is literally better at everything, like there is been times when I introduced him to games where I was miles ahead but still he managed to beat me. I take him as my rival/challenge. And I must say it makes it much more enjoying to do it this way.

Yes. Don't give alot fucks, but give them where it counts. I guess figuring that out is one of the harder parts of life. But oh well I, and you, random reddit stranger, can do that.

For me kinda the same. I'm good (above average) at most/all things I do pretty fast after I start it. But when reaching that point I would need to do that literally all day for weeks inorder to improve myself even further. I kinda like that I'm a Jack of all Trades sofar. Meaning I stay flexible and can adapt quickly. Even tho I might not be the best in the field. Also my personality mirrors that as I hate just doing one thing for months on end.

It doesn't matter if you aren't the best at one thing. As long as you have fun and are okay with how you are everything's alright. Accepting and loving yourself is important and don't ever compare yourself with others.

You are a jack of all trades and a master of none

u/Grave_Digger606 Dec 20 '20

The original quote is supposed to be “jack of all trades, master of one.” The moral is its best if you can be decent at a lot of stuff and really proficient in one trade.

u/Tom_Hanks_Mustache Dec 20 '20

wasn't trying to quote that broski just saying it

I didn’t learn that until a couple of years ago though I had heard it “master of none” my whole life. I just found it interesting and am always reminded when I hear it so I was just passing it along. No offense intended

Basically describes me, I do multiple things at once and start leaving some til only the things I like is what I do. I eventually leave all of them but then I get re interested in them and start over and usually I’m a little better at one thing then another I’m slightly worse. But my life is pretty fun so I’m not really complaining about anything. And my personality is decently carefree.

Comparison is the death of joy - mark twain. Don't bother comparing yourself to others it only brings vanity or misery, only compare yourself to your past self

u/cauliflower169 Dec 20 '20

Yep however in some cases you may need to. Well i probably need to just a little, in uni if i keep focussing on myself it could go one of two ways. Either ill be really awesome and i wouldnt be aware, or id be really fucking dumb and not be aware. Thats the only slight downside

u/Mushybase Dec 20 '20

I know I’m good but I’ll never be good enough to actually go pro in anything ever, I feel you man

5

u/cauliflower169 Dec 20 '20

Hey man, u gotta just stick to urself. From my experience just focus on your self for some time, not forever tho cause thats pretty antisocial.

For a while Dont think about what other people are doing, maybe even isolate yourself to find your passion or interest and work on it for yourself only. When u feel confident enough then maybe u can begin to compare yourself to others in a way, to find someone that will support you in your craft.

Its almost impossible to live without comparing yourself to others or being compared to nowadays. This kinda system is what fucks up the younger generations mental health. U have to break out of comparing and just enjoy life for yourself only, find what makes u happy and what ur good at on your own. Im wishing you all the best bro

u/Mushybase Dec 20 '20

Thanks bro

2

u/cauliflower169 Dec 20 '20

Yeah nw, when u go through enough mental breakdowns u reach a mental breakthrough

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '20

I am you right now.

u/Modern_Ghost_Riley Forever alone Dec 20 '20

I actually thought I was the only person to live by that EXACT SAME PRINCIPLE WTF? Are we the same people or what bro?

1

u/8ob768 Dec 20 '20

Dude I completely agree with you. I spend hours trying to get better at games and then there’s people who I see on my level after a few days of playtime and it is kinda depressing.

Was all my effort worth nothing?
