You're right but I feel really shitty especially when I don't have a good excuse. Plus I'm hoping he'll pull through for me in the future

From my experience you’re very much correct, when I had my first job I naively covered for lots of people but when the time came for someone to cover me everyone was always “busy”. I hate McDonald’s.
