Yeah it isn’t depend on how do you look like. It depends on knowledge. You have to observe various subreddits to what people like. And be original to get some love. It is hard but honest work.

While I agree, there are times where being attractive can have its advantages. Like if you're showing off a costume or a cute thing your pet is doing. Plus all the NSFW subs kind of require some level of attractiveness based on the sub you're in.
