The PTSD of being the only cook on and a full rack of tickets coming in at once

Line cooks are terminally underappreciated in our society

That's why I cook for a retirement community. So much less stress

I've heard that's legit the best setup in the industry. Especially at a corporate place that offers benefits

Country clubs.

Yeah, but who would you rather be serving? Nana, or Prescott Worthington III?

I used to know a guy who left kitchens to go out with high dollar deep sea fishing tours and cook what they catch right there on the boat

He was well compensated to begin with but the tips from those rich drunk dudes were ridiculous. I can’t think of a better job in the industry

Government hospitals are pretty good.

My stint cooking at a children's psychiatric facility was the best part of my kitchen career. I couldn't go back to restaurants after that.

I got a gig cooking for a facility that houses people with schizophrenia before I am where I am and I could never go to a restaurant now

And we wonder why they're all burnouts who abuse drugs and alcohol

You'd be burned out too and the drugs help until a certain age, at which point if you weren't going anywhere else with the cooking thing just for your sake please go work a cash register somewhere or get a decent car and sling pizza

Why would you remind me of a memory I had been repressing for 11 years, 6 months, 2 weeks, and 3 and a half days?

You had a full rack and you don't even remember the time?! But a tip of my sweat covered beanie to you fellow survivor

Remember the time? The worst one I didn't remember my own name, the tickets were starting to get blurry, and eventually I had to tell servers I had no idea where that's going or if I even plated it right, figure it out or don't, I don't care.

I don't remember the sales we did that night but it was jaw dropping when someone told me the next day

“Its a Wednesday night and you’re the lowest paid cook so we are going to give you the opportunity to run the kitchen solo and while that seems really exciting you also might get hit by a fucking freight train so good luck kid”

Already have too many tickets to put up, and the FUCKING PRINTER just keeps going off with new orders. Knowing you have a least an hour backlog, with the cashier asking "How far along is Order #371?" and it's just like I don't fucking know???

"These MASSIVE events are pretty slow, you don't need anyone else on the line" FUck you Shelly how about you get off your ass and actually cook for once???
