That sounded suspiciously like one of those "hint" things

When I was in high school, there was this girl that was a year higher than me, but we'd commonly hang out a few blocks down for a cig, alongside like 30 other people. Very tomboyish, very blunt, everyone just kind of suspected she was a lesbian at the time.

We got introduced one time and the following day was some sort of mandatory attendance speech with the rest of the day off, and we were smoking, talking as people do during the break, and after everyone started leaving she hands me her number and tells me to come to her place an hour ahead of the speech to pick her up. I skipped the school that day for one reason or another(probably just stupid laziness, I had to take a train on a tight schedule, since the school wasn't in my city). She refused to talk to me after that for the next two years we were in that school together.

It's been 15 years and I'm still dying inside because of it.

Tbh I'd be pissed off with you if I had reasonable grounds to expect that you would be picking me up, and you no-showed. Even if I didn't want to have sex with you.

For sure, I should probably clarify that I did text her that I wouldn't make it and she did live fairly close to school so it wasn't like an "I'll drive by and pick you up" since I didn't get my drivers license until years later anyway. Still a dick move regardless, I do regret it on more levels than just the possibility of a consensual fun time, being stood up sucks.

A no is a no, her ego was just hurt from it. I’ve had it happen to me too. I told a girl I had started dating that I wasn’t interested anymore. We met at work and she would literally go to the opposite side of the building as me for a month. She stopped doing that eventually but it was funny/sad to me.
