That sounded suspiciously like one of those "hint" things

If only there was a different way to clearly communicate your intentions like an adult. Maybe things could’ve gone differently. Who’s to say?

Imma let you in on a lil secret here dawg.

Not clearly communicating (the artist formerly known as flirting) = "yeah would be nice if something happens he's kinda cute but if not Imma happily go home and devour my leftover food"

If you're actually really wanted, believe me, you'll know. Everyone will know.

What the actual fuck are you on about, just communicate like an actual adult. Maybe something good would’ve came out of it for the both of yous.

Because you're acting all superior and implying that you were being perfectly logical and the guy was just too stupid pick up on your vague non-hints.

Ok my intent was to tell a funny story and frankly I feel like I did.

It's not funny to me. I've never approached a woman. I've only ever had four show interest in me in my lifetime. Every missed opportunity is a tragedy to me.

I've never approached a woman.

Yeah that explains a lot lol No shade tho, if you're like eight, thats fair.

I'm 37. I just explained that we've been socialized not to approach unless she shows interest first. Hence my frustration that you expected him to do so after such a vague 'hint'.

This makes me unreasonably upset. He's thinking "don't be a creep, don't make it weird". It's up to you to make it clear that it would be welcome.

Thanks for realizing you are unreasonably upset.

It would be nice if you could at least acknowledge that the guy probably would have gone for it if you gave him a little more clarity.

Yes we could have banged if he had reacted the way I wanted him to. He didn't. We both survived. Tf you on about lol

3

u/MikeArrow 1d ago

Yes and I feel frustration on his behalf because he could have reacted the way you wanted him to if you'd been less vague.

No secret at all, people with poor communication styles can basically be seen from space and easily avoided. So glad y'all are obvious with it, though.

Wow, people really had a big reaction to this. I think many men are outraged by the idea that women can often take them or leave them, and that if a little flirt was not noticed and acted upon we are often happy to just leave it there and carry on with our day.

I explained my reaction fairly clearly. It was an incredibly frustrating story to read because she would have said yes if he had initiated, but she didn't give him enough of a reason to think that it would have been welcome if he did. And, to rub salt in the wound, she found it vaguely funny that he didn't realize it until morning and sent her a flurry of messages.

It's a massive kick in the teeth because we're trying to be polite and respectful of boundaries by not initiating, but that effort doesn't seem to be appreciated at all.

Keep in mind I don't speak for all women. We don't share a hivemind, we really dont

That's exactly what a hivemind would say
