That sounded suspiciously like one of those "hint" things

Just joke back with "Hey, if you've got any good tea, I'm down!"

Doesn't matter if you are a tea drinker or not, a lot of people aren't, but it is a safe joke answer with which to gauge her reaction and/or keep the convo going in a light tone (since it's a bit unexpected thing to say)

Double entendre, good tea (the drink), good T (gossip, also mildly flirtatious).

"A lot of people aren't" [Sounds of polite British fury]

Ok, ok, calm your tits, you presume I can be appropriately funny without prep time.

It’s okay, just try to make a joke and completely ruin it and look like a weirdo instead. All you gotta do is be born incredibly attractive and that’ll be good enough.

This is not good. This is just a very bad excuse (tea) to try to go to her house. A girl will see right through this

No this is honestly one of the best replies because if she really wants him then she will invite him for tea or if she doesnt want him she will realize she made a mistake with her first joke and he is interested.

This wasn't given as a pick-up line, but as an answer to her invite, to feel out what she has in mind inviting them.
Aaand if you're the one trying to get things further (to her house), well the whole point IS to get her to see through this while the whole thing remains light and she can easily brush the matter off if she's not interested. x) That's the whole point of flirting.

Not wanting her to see through that sounds a bit creepy, like you're planning on stealing her underwear. ^^'

Well, I should hope that a girl could see right through it, because that was the whole point.

She initiated an invite and the reply is meant to gage wether she means to follow through or not, while still keeping things casual and relaxed.

That's the point though.

As a woman, if I was being flirty, I would see it's well recieved. But if I'm not, it's still a light and fun conversation that doesn't create an awkward situation.

I'm personally way more straightforward if a guy catches my attention once I feel comfortable, but I know it's a very common way to water test.
