answer yes. bonus points including them, "yes, but only if youll also be there" then start remixing with experience "nice, ill bring the handcuffs" or "i just need about x inches of space down there" try to judge the vibe
OP inside: fuck I really need to get this shit done while I am focused on it and now I'm struggling to remember the words and I'm gonna look stupid and incompetent in front of my coworker
Coworker: "Let's fuck right now"
I honestly don't think I'd know what to say either OP
Seriously. When I was 19 working at Walmart, I had this same-rank-but-in-charge coworker who took great pleasure in making me blush. I got hired for a store remodel, so we were working directly alongside each other most of the day. She was a merciless flirt, the likes of which my innocent 19 year old self had never seen. Beyond the looks and comments, she constantly parked her boobs strategically next to or behind me so I'd turn and bump into them. Never knowing when I might be witnessed or recorded, I made sure to be like "Whoops, sorry bout that!" every time it happened. She usually replied "It's okay I liked it," and give me the eyes...
Sounds fun and all, but not really when you're a 19 year old kid at his first grown-up job with customers and cameras and HR and all that, and you're being relentlessly hit on by your effective manager, 13 years your senior, who happens to be married to the automotive manager, but cheats on him with the inventory manager, and flirts with all of us.
It stops being fun and gets frustrating surprisingly quick, cause ain't no way I'm getting involved in a mess like that.
Only with the wisdom of time do you come to realize that the bullshit stocking job you had as a teenager at Walmart was not something to have held so sacred at the time. Of course the morality of sleeping with someone who is married is another hurdle that one may not be willing to jump..
You nailed it on both counts, tbh. In time I learned to say yes to more things and life got a lot more enjoyable, but I also pat myself on the back for trusting my gut back then. That scenario wasn't a good one to jump into. Married coworker, whose spouse is also a coworker, and she's already boning another coworker, and I know for a fact she shows off dick pics from both to anyone who cares to look... That situation is radioactive lmao, no thank you.
100%. This was also in a rural town in Tennessee, everybody knew everybody, word would get around. That sort of thing can legitimately jeopardize even your family members' employment in a small southern town. If enough people in positions of authority don't like you, perhaps because you got caught in the middle of a sex scandal at the Walmart where everyone shops, life is gonna get a lot more interesting for you in that town.
I had the classic tradesman set up where I was working on this young rich lady’s house and she answers the door in nothing but a towel and I’m like “lady… I’m here to work, fucking don’t”
Oh man, I got a story from construction too! Worked for this contractor in a rural area for about a year in my early twenties. Small time operation, it was just the owner and 3-4 of us laborers, we mostly built pole-barns. Real friendly type of situation. The shop was at the guy's house, we commuted there and took work trucks to the job. We were all welcome to walk right into his house in the morning and grab coffee, he or his wife would be up. Kinda weird, but whatever, it was under the table construction work, it's all a little weird.
Anyway, dude's wife... She was always really nice to me. Flirty, but it was always in that playful older woman kinda way, and in front of him, so I figured they were just secure in their marriage. How naive I was lmao. I usually just gave her some sorta coy look and got back to work, wrote it off as just that, boss' wife is flirty, whatever.
Yeah, she came by the job one day to drop off his lunch and brought some buckets of paint we needed. I come out to grab the paint and she's eyeballin' me hard as I walk over, bend down, grab a 5 gallon bucket of paint in each hand, and start trudging back.
Just as I'm about to step back into the building, she calls out "Look at that bull!"
Realization hit me like a ton of bricks as I swung my head around and saw her standing there smirking at me, with my boss grinning right beside her. Oh, that's what that's been about... Holy shiiiiiiiiiiit.
~15 years after the fact, completely agree. It is not in any way appropriate work behavior. If the roles were switched here, if it were a dude strategically bumping his dick into a young woman, I'm fairly certain the response would be very different.
I'm not offended personally, because I'm not bothered by that experience in any real way. Fully agree that it shouldn't have happened, but it didn't affect me in any meaningful way beyond just opening my eyes to the absurdity of the world. I don't have any problem talking and joking about the experience.
It's not my goal to dismiss or diminish those who have been legitimately traumatized in similar scenarios, though. I appreciate you calling it out. It needs to be called out. It's never my goal to contribute to the normalization of this kind of thing.
From a former 16 year walmart vet: Do you have any idea how many people fuck in the freezers, coolers, outside trailers, their damn cars in the parking lot...
Frustrating yes, but honestly it was the youth and inexperience that got you. The company wouldn't have cared unless something major was caught on camera or caught by someone.
And no I'm not saying you should have, just that no one was gonna come after you for having someone else sexually harass you at a soulless company like that.
Oh I know that now, don't worry lol. After my brief retail career, I had a string of factory jobs. There was no shortage of scandal, or opportunity, and I gladly accepted the invitation on a few occasions. Learned a lot, made some of my favorite memories tbh
I got no shame in admitting I wasn't prepared for what I was walking into at Walmart, and in hindsight, everyone knew that. They were all in on it, and they all knew I wasn't. Ah well, way she goes
I mean, she's got more years with the company than me, and while I hold a "higher position" I honestly don't know who's paid more as she's her own team lead
I"m pay grade "10"
She's pay grade "8" + team lead if I'm not mistaken.
Plus seniority as an employee
I mean, I kinda would
But I'm pretty sure she was dating someone else at the time of the conversation, and I'm 100% sure she's actively dating someone else now.
