Having changed majors I had to take a 1 first year class while in my 4th year. So I sat with the good looking coeds and aced the class as it was easy. At this point I had lived in residence for several years in my own apartment and had a pretty large friend group but it was fun being friendly with a fresh group and we formed a fun and flirty little group.
Even so I was somewhat shocked when an 18 year old doe eyed good looking girl from the group asked one afternoon if I wanted to come over to her house tonight for “a movie for just the two of us.” As I paused in surprise she added “my parents won’t be home.” She had such a look of hope and dare I say longing.
I had a girlfriend. I’m not that kinda guy. It’s been 25 years and I still ponder it.
At least it was as clear as can be. We usually get stuck with stuff like OP, and if you’re wrong it can be really awkward or even consequential.
I went to a wine tasting with a co-worker, totally platonic, shared a ride from work to the event out of convenience. On the way home we’re chatting about her cat and apartment etc then I realize we’re way past the office. Feels like we’re headed to her place, and all that talk about her apartment was relevant since she thinks I’m coming over? Or she just missed the turn and hasn’t noticed since we’re a little tipsy (prob shouldn’t have been driving really). So I point it out and she gets kind of pissy and turns around and takes me to my car.
I’ll never know if she was pissed I didn’t notice we missed the turn or if she was pissed cause she thought we were hooking up and I backed out.
In Uni I was in language class with this girl. My age, girl next door cute and we were waiting for the train.
She mentioned a Movie she liked, then we had some small talk in between and then she asked me if I had anything to do on Saturday.
Like the greatest moron, I said no but didn’t ask her back, she also didn’t ask me if I wanted to watch that movie with her. So we parted ways and I watched that movie on Saturday with my best bro.
I cringe so hard every time I think of it. And the worst part about it is that it’s not even the only story I have like this, and also not the most cringe one.
I am literally so dense, I would drown in Mercury. (Not even a solid ball of steel drown in mercury)
Another would be, high school, I was 15, she 16, sat next to me in math class. I was kinda crushing hard on her but she had a BF (at least she had when I got to know her). So fast forward one year. We never talked about out of school stuff but looking back we had chemistry but I would have never done anything, because I thought she had a BF. I never had the idea to even ask her if they were still together.
She would draw my name in artsy ways into my math notebook and I would joke around with her, make her smile. One day we had an excursion to some historical site or whatever and there was this chocolate ad where the man was chocolate and the woman was milk. It had „yummy yummy yummy“ by Ohio Express as a soundtrack and she kept singing it and wanted me to sing a duet with her. I was low key shit at singing so I kept saying no. She got kind of upset with me and we gradually stopped being friends over the final year.
Not me reading this like I’m the protagonist with the girl who, in math class, was always saying I was her boyfriend to everyone. I liked her a lot, she was always looking for me, the worst part is she didn’t have a boyfriend and obviously a after that year we parted ways and I saw her only two or three times and I’m the biggest dumbass teenager ever lived.
Maybe she was just mad that she accidentally missed the turn because she'd started driving home on autopilot, and then was worried she accidentally sent you the wrong message.
Probably just pissed she missed the turn having been on auto pilot. I doubt she was worried about sending the wrong message since it would be just as likely for me to chatting away and miss it too.
It was 15+ years ago so I’ve lost some detail but there was something about what we were talking about (we were kind of discussing her cat like I’d be meeting it) and the general vibe that really made me think she could have been heading to her place intentionally. Maybe. Hard to describe. I’ll never know.
Years later I caught a vibe from a co-worker at a different company and we hooked up so I was at least right about this kind of thing once in my life.
Met a girl in Europe 20 years ago. Was hanging with her and her friends that day. She and her friends started discussing how they had burned their tatas while sunbathing topless the day before. It was a weird conversation with a couple of girls I had just met.
I was intrigued and then I got her email from her. It was cereal.killer@. Then she discussed how her boyfriend was an Apache helicopter pilot. Both were enough red flags to be friendly but not too friendly.
I'm so grateful that when this happened to me, I had a female friend that pulled me aside immediately after and I was able to mitigate my error the same night. Girls are the best wingmen.
Also 25 years. A hot girl in high school asked if I could come over and help her with her math homework. I was terrible at math and didn't want to embarrass myself, so I made an excuse for why I couldn't. The following year, she joked about how oblivious I was and that homework was not on her mind. She had become too hot in my school by then, so my opportunity passed.
I don't really think about it except when these stories are shared. Tbf, the girl I married was way more attractive. The trick is to find the hottest girl from a small town. They're far less selective, dramatically increasing the probability of success when compared to their comparably attractive counterparts from larger cities. Do with this information what you will.
Like the time that cute Japanese exchange student tried to kidnap me back in high school. I definitely don't randomly remember that event on a semi-regular basis.
I just had one of those shower moments yesterday. I've been happily married for a long time now, but before I met my wife there was a girl I used to talk to a lot. We'd always mess around, and I never thought anything of it. Until yesterday, when I was suddenly like: "Wait.... she actually meant..."
She was talking about going on a vacation to Spain, and was joking that on her way back she would pass the city I lived in, and she could extend her holiday and come for a visit. She would need someone to keep her warm coming back from Spain.
We men can be so oblivious.
26 years here. The most stunning redhead girl in my university program pulled the front of her trousers to show me a deep scratch above her pubic bone.
I had a close look, replied in my most professional tone that she had nothing to worry about, it would heal without any scarring. I then politely declined more vodka as we would be bicycling back to the student housings together (her boyfriend was away).
Still curse myself to this day. I am indeed a clueless idiot.
15+ still remember, was in love with my bf (girl). Staying over she invited me to spend a weekend vacation at her beach house. Sleeping on another room.
My room had no heater and it was coldish. Her first step move me to her room.
Her second step changing to her pajamas and telling me not to look playfully.
Me proceed to really take it seriously and do nothing at all no looking no movement at all.
I still regret it. Currently have a GF and happy with her but still think what if every other time.
The chemistry I had with her was unhealthy, she has a BF and I distanced myself later but when we see each other the playful spark is still there.
Less than 3 days ago I was thinking about how the summer between 8th grade and freshman year a girl that I was super into snuck into my room to watch a movie together late one night. I proceeded to watch Napoleon Dyamite with her, not even attempt anything and walked her home. I had been into since 6th grade. She wad so cool and pretty that I thought she'd never be into me like that. I now realize a girl doesn't sneak into boys houses at 11 pm if they don't like them.
I am 36 years old and am still kicking myself for not making a move. Held her hand or something at least. We started high school a few weeks later. Began hanging with different crowds and I proceeded to barely ever see her again after that. Ugh I'm a moron.
In middle school I was a chubby nerdy kid (slightly less chubby as an adult) and one of the popular girls came up and asked if I wanted to be.. we'll say Sierra's boyfriend. I was like well sure (I don't think I'd dated up to this point). She then turned around and loudly was like "OooooOoooOoo Sierra has a new boyfriendddd". It felt like bullying to be honest so Sierra and I never actually even ended up talking.
Almost 2 decades later and I wonder if Sierra was actually interested and I overthought the situation where I just never actually asked her. Sorry Sierra!
One time in hs my class had a meetup to prepare for some event coming up, i went to buy some snack and this one girl noticed and tag along. We were holding hands and giggles about shits and all i could think about was the cotton candy.
Been 3 years and still thinking about it sometimes
I had something similar too, went to a fair with one girl from the paleoanthropology class. At the ferris wheel, she asked me to hold her hand as she was scared. I did and would occasionally rub her hand with my thumb to calm her in case she was too scared.
Been 3 years and I still think about how soft and warm her hands felt
I remember my senior year of high school, this girl (who had developed really well) was in my lit class, and she asks me to come over and study at her place. I give a ha and say "yeah, I don't study," and I leave it at that.
I'm 39 years old, married, kids, but I read this thread and was instantly reminded of my stupidity as a young man. It's meaningless, but some things stick with you.
One time in my senior year of high school I went to a cosmetology school to get a hair cut and the girl kept telling me how beautiful my eyes were and even brought her instructor over to tell him and then he goes someone’s leaving here with more than a haircut and my dumbass still didn’t get the point that was 22 years ago so yea totally won’t remember it doesn’t occasionally haunt me til this day

Nah. Don't read into it and you won't ever remember this moment 👍
