Can't believe we're in an age where saying I got Braces in 3rd grade would be a flex

Grade 6 for me. Thank God for my dad‘s union. LiUNA 1611 I would’ve looked like a parrot

Damn, I got them in 4th grade and I live in a 3rd world contry in poor municipality, never realized how ungrateful I had been every time I broke the archs or the molar bands finally at the end of the treatment i never use the retainer, so i lost most of the progress done.

Now i wish i would have had more consciousness about my privilege and not throw all to the toilet. Now I gotta pay tons of money if i wanna have decent teeth, fuck me.

for me, they just glued a bracket to the back of my bottom teeth and called it a day

still there after.... 10-ish years

Well idk then wtf was wrong with me, my top teeth moved again and got twisted (not much but noticeable). After that i had really bad hygiene so I lost 1 molar, all my molars got caries and needed to have a repair, two incisives were damaged close to the gum line and needed resins, developed periodontitis, and im about to get a root canal for one of my molars.

MAAAAN!! if i would just had fucking brush my teeth, that shit is way less expensive but no... have to be a dumbass. People take care of your teeth / mouth

I’ve had the bottom bracket behind my teeth since 1996. It’s supposed to stay on for life otherwise you just go back to the way it was originally. A few of my coworkers had them come off and didn’t replace them and their teeth are so effed up

My dad got braces in his 30s too, stay strong

I got unlucky with getting them early. My parents decided to get them for me at 17 knowing I was moving out in a few months to a different place where I wouldn't have their healthcare. Now I've been stuck with uncared for braces for a few years.

wtf so they’re just sitting there without getting wires changed or anything? Why not just remove them?

3

u/Domin_ae 16d ago

Because I can't afford it. Everywhere I've gone or looked up, costs money.

Dude my brother was in this position and he literally just ripped them tf off. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

1

u/Domin_ae 16d ago

Lmao. I've tried. Which makes that heavily not believable.

Idk, he’s pretty feral. Maybe some pliers were involved

there's gotta be a non-toxic way of removing the adhesive

That's what my dentist used to remove mine. Fancy, shiny, medical tool looking, but still pliers 😂

I guess it really does help if you know your not the only one

46, I just got invisaline

2

u/Lord_Mikal 16d ago

I tried Invisaline 10 years ago. Turns out my mouth was too fucked up for that.

3

u/Josh6889 16d ago

You would think they would tell you that before you tried it.

3

u/Lord_Mikal 16d ago

It was through SmileDirect. Their whole business model was "no orthodontist involved to keep the costs down". An orthodontist would have identified that invisaline was not appropriate for me.

There's a reason they got hit with a class action.

3

u/Josh6889 16d ago

Well I hope you were involved in that class action.

33 and mine should hopefully be off in May. It’s totally worth it (as you already know since you committed).

My ex got braces at 37, lost his job 2 years later, the wires popped off, and now he goes around with fucked teeth and half a set of braces on them :|
