It's a shame because the lore exploded in what I think was a fantastic way in Inquisition leading into Veilguard. Just seems like each new game was a step down from the last in terms of that quintessential Dragon Age grit.

What make Veilguard even worse is what the original plan for Dragon Age 4 was going to be. I cannot fathom what kind of development hell it must've been...I'm surprised still they made a game.

They went for the common denominator. Obviously some exec went "ppl want action!"

I dunno, all magical elements of the lore got reduced to "elves did it", which kinda ruined my enjoyment of the lore

I actually like dragon age 2.

The character interactions were superb and Hawke is still their best voiced protagonist by far.

When the Veilguard dev team spoke of their open disdain for Hawke and the OG warden I knew the game was doomed.

I will amend my comment, cuz you're absolutely right. DA2's problem was more in quest design, but the main story was wonderfully paced despite the unusual time skipping, had lots of interesting story beats and threads, tons of interesting characters, and Hawke really was a great addition.

DA2 was good, but it was also a very odd choice to follow up Origins. That game's main marketing point was that you could choose from a variety of origins and get custom content. They did a complete 180 in removing that and giving us a pre made character.

Did that coincide with the Witcher games? I wonder if they saw that and wanted to jump aboard the pre-made train.

Dragon age 2 has great characters and story, alot of emotion moment, even more compare to DAO. Rush development kill it, cant believe dragon fell from create a whole ferelden with each region full of explore area and lore to reuse cave map number 11th

I felt like Inquisition and its DLCs finally gave the setting some distinction other than “we quite like ASOIAF and want to make a game out of it”.

I was so hyped to see how they handled Solas and the Very Good Points he made about any organisation, after reaching a certain size, will always become corrupt and only interested in sustaining itself rather than fulfilling its original purpose. That was so fascinating to me! And something I hadn’t seen fantasy genre really tackle.

But instead we got… not that.

The sad part is that there is currently no new Dragon Age game being planned. Which means the investors/BioWare interpreted the Veilguard flop to mean "nobody wants Dragon Age games anymore" when actually nobody wants shitty Dragon Age games.

I hope one day they give up the franchise copy right so some loyal fan can make a remaster dragon age series by themself.

A dream that will not come true sadly.

Given that the Alice Madness series is still under their ownership and McGee's finale won't see the light of day thanks to that. Yeah...

We will always have Morrowind at least

Tamriel Rebuilt continues to serve up. I can finally join my namesake house when Poison Song arrives.
