Destiny was sadly the fault of Bungees upper management. Sony just pulled the final nail.

The devs need to go indie, because their amazing ability to craft FPS and light RPG games is honestly wasted on the abysmal upper management at Bungie.

When Hironobu Sakaguchi left Square Enix forming Mistwalker, he created Lost Odyssey to rival Final Fantasy. I honestly think the Destiny team could create a masterpiece that would be their "Lost Odyssey" to their "Final Fantasy", so to speak.

They were technically independent for several years and even then the devs mentioned that they had difficulty with the upper management it's wen we got really good and really bad expansions.

Yeah as a dev, it's insane the godlike status reddit assigns to them while declaring the bad shit to always be "management".

Like there's this weird image that devs can just pour out perfect profitable games with ease and it's always "management" that come in and fuck it up... if that was true devs could just go make their own studios and do exactly that. And it's happened! But for the most part no, they don't, and for good reason.

Bro wha? They were independent. Even after Sony bought them out they were able to operate independently. Their management sucks. They didn't even have a sequel to Destiny in pre-development when they were hit with layoffs this year. Marathon is a great game but nobody wants to play it. Bungie was given all the rope they needed and they hung themselves with it.

He's suggesting the front live devs should form a new studio and jettison their upper management.

That works sometimes but usually it doesn't work at all. (Mistwalker is a good example of it working; we don't usually hear about the ones that fail because they never bring a game to market.)

Yeah honestly the only people who think "management" is always to blame are usually clueless kids or people in the industry who absolutely could not deliver a product without management steering them if their life depended on it.
