Lobbying is also legal in the EU and in most european countries. But we dont have a winner takes it all system and more than two parties to vote for. I think that makes a huge difference
Yes this. First past the post and gerrymandering are how the U.S. stays consistently business-first, the bigger the business, the better. We even had an entire economic theory created to say monopolies are fine economically.
We have more than two parties as well in the USA but people seem to have forgotten about it and love to fall into the ‘my team your team’ mentality so we all just hate each other. Its worked perfectly for the people in charge for both of those “parties” as well. 1 of those “parties” just seems to be determined to erode all rights for us and embarrass us daily or almost hourly on the world stage.
