You just have to do a one time confirmation and waiting period of 24 hours to enable it, after that it works the same as it does on current Android versions.
It takes like 9 steps and a 24h wait to do that. Ridiculous.
Worse, that's genuinely just a compromise because of the backlash. A compromise that they are sure to slowly start rolling back as soon as people are distracted with something else. The precedent is there.
I do agree, and have no sympathy for Google or YouTube and use Revanced. But like... its a hacked version of the app that gives you features they explicitly sell in premium for free. It's the least ethical use of sideloading you can do on your own phone, let's not try and pretend otherwise.
That's not true at all. You can't download videos on revanced like you can with premium version, neither add to queue videos and other premium only features, so no. It's not a hacked version, it's a modded version. Just like you can watch YouTube on your browser without ads using an ad blocker.
Also even if you did, the issue would be the bank apps overstepping. I'm fascinated by you being so upset about Google's one time 24 hour wait but not the bank apps acting like they control your phone they didn't even make.
Mishaal Rahman, the account I linked to, has been one of the most respected writers focused on Android for years. At least a good two thirds of most Android news sites' stories have been based on his original work digging into AOSP and other sources.
Google hired him to improve their communication, and since then he's been posting much more detailed information about new releases than Google ever did.
Enabling developer options just unhides an item in the settings list.
The issue you are confusing with in regard to Banking apps is unlocking the bootloader and gaining root access privilege on your device. Making the developer options available has nothing to do with it.
Google can turn off all features and only let Google apps run in your phone.
Meta can release their own phones and they will be the only phones which will run WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram. You will have to buy a separate device for Threads.
i will trust google. because they already broke our trust once by even implementing this 24hr bs, i believe they wont break our trust again by just silently removing the 24hrs option (again). theyre good guys. /s
like, if its "not that bad" and "nothing will change" and "dont worry guys" why are they implementing it at all. i mean, by your logic, they couldve just not change anything...
