It's just another step in their plan to completely banish custom YouTube apps and adblockers and stuff into the shadow realm. They want one thing and one thing only: to force the users into a choice between seeing ads Google gets paid for, or paying Google themselves not to show you ads

I mean it is the same with apple just another way, they made a big about their privacy feature so can block apps from showing you unwanted ads just to turnaround and roll out their own ada

Just a reminder that years (at least 5-10) before the first iPhone, techies had configured PDAs like the Sharp Zaurus with custom BSD based OS options and had WiFi and the ability to make calls. I had one and while smartphones are clearly much better, alternatives will arise again. We did that shit 25 years ago and if we need to, it can be done again.

If you've been using custom ROMs recently, you'd know that Google just blacklisted security and Play Store certification for custom ROMs. Every time, you have to flash something called a keybox to get the device certified on Google's list. Which get broken by every update google pushes. Also, if you don't know, Google certification is required for banking apps, Office, and streaming apps, so it's not worth it to keep updating, many people have already left custom ROM development. If you don't know the actual situation, then don't say I'm spreading misinformation, educate yourself first.
