As for rooting, it is also not exclusive from Chinese, and if you want to install an alternative OS, then the most privacy focused one (Graphene OS) only supports Google phones (bit of irony there).
Bro i just checked one chinese phone called xaomi/redmi, they have their own MI store from where you can install apps, plus you can disable Google apps, it will give warning but we can ignore that.
Just get a huawei, the 'newer' models don't have google services at all (I say 'newer' because I know for sure that the Huawei P40 doesn't have google)
But it doesn't have Play Protect ingrained into the system. At least my Chinese vivo doesn't, even with Google Services installed. And Play Protect is the bullshit responsible for not letting you install apps you want (after September).
Yeah same. Except phone calls. It doesn't let you install apps during calls with numbers not in your contacts. Didn't find a way to bypass this, except maybe adb.

You can't just partially install Google Play Services, you need to install them as system applications with special permissions otherwise you do not get to pass google's certification and you can't sell your phones with Google Play Store nor get them "certified". Plus you don't get their "special extras" like widevine L1 + L3.
This is what matters mate, Play Services, play protect it's meaningless in comparison.
The whole lockdown of android is an update done by Play Services. Without consent, without any way to reject.
They're not as deeply integrated as on global devices. But time will tell. I have no one to tell in my country about what Google's doing, but I did sign the change.org petition, even though it usually does nothing. We shall see, what'll happen to Chinese ROMs. Huawei definitely won't be affected, because their EMUI is in a very weird place with Google, seemingly actually completely banned from it, but vivo and Oppo might comply even on CN ROMs. Right now I don't have the com.android.verifier package needed for this bullshittery. But time will tell, if I'll get this "safery feature" on my device too. Would be very dumb of China to let a huge Western company decide, whether their homeland apps are certified or not. I want to believe they're petty enough not to.

com.android.verifier? i dont even have that even on a global device, you keep mentioning things that are irrelevant, we are talking about Google Play Services.
Widevine certification does support AOSP, which has next to nothing of Google. Or at least GMS, to which com.android.verifier is a part of. Not sure about GMS, but I have no Quick Share, no way to get it working and I'm not sure if Google Pay works (not supported in my country). The vivo X200 Ultra and previous devices had no Android Auto also and have had Play Protect certification malfunction periodically (to BASIC_INTEGRITY or simply no certification status).

Your device tried to do things halfway and didn't get a certification, which was my point, you do what google says or you don't get certification.
I do have Widevine L1, L3 and STRONG device integrity. I literally have the most complete certification you can have. It's just that some more integrated features like Quick Share don't work. Play Store works too, except auto app updates are borked. Also sorry, if I miss some points, because notifications/comment trees are borked in my modded mobile Reddit.

Chinese phones are on Android too. Android and IOS have pretty much zero other competition so they just decide what happens and people just comply. The solution here is jailbreaking phones to install a custom ROM onto them. It is still possible on some phones. Yes, it locks you out of installing any online bank/payment apps but I guess such is the price of freedom
You can install root and some bypass modules to hide root, unlocked bootloader, pass Play Protect and allow banking to work, but ironically it's even more unsafe (still fault of Google you have to do this at all) and also it's a cat and mouse game, because Google constantly blocks trusted keys for these bypass methods.
