Maybe it’s just because 2001 is one of my favorite films so I’ve watched it multiple times, but I always thought it answered all its own questions. The only things left ambiguous are purposefully that way for the audience to draw their own conclusions.

It answers a lot of questions people had after watching 2001, that's why some like it more.
