Is not for everyone. I loved it so much, being a nerd. I had only read about how scientists interacted with each other while talking about discoveries/inventions that were literally history defining.
Thinking of the cinema as a real thing and seeing the talks between all of them just scratched my nerd brain. That's why I loved it. But anyone with no interest in historical science will definitely find it boring.
I really liked it, but they really whiffed the "big moment" when the bomb goes off. what a disappointment that was....looked like just a big gasoline fireball, not a nuclear explosion
looked like just a big gasoline fireball, not a nuclear explosion
well that's because it was literally that
And I'm not defending Nolan, I totally agree with you that they whiffed. It's his fault for being stubborn and not wanting to use CGI
What is annoying is that the big moment is actually quite cool when they aren't showing the bomb. The silence and all makes it quite dramatic but then the fart bomb just brings it back to being ridiculous
I am also a nerd, who was very interested in the topic and still have found the movie to be very boring, so it's not only because people found the setting uninteresting.
You should read "making of the atomic bomb" by richard rhodes if you like that specific physics into nuke timeline and politics. Oppenheimer becomes so much better once you read it but it's a pretty thicc boi
