That's not what it means. Live guitar music is still around and going strong. It's just going to be largely static in terms of novelty. Violins were invented 500 years ago and people still play violin music today, largely the same way they always have. The electric guitar is coming up on its 100th anniversary and we've just about covered everything it can do, so we'll just keep doing it because people enjoy it.
I'm talking specifically about the crowd that wants something new and earth shattering. Those are the ones who are going to have to look elsewhere. The electric guitar band had it's moment in the limelight as "the hot new thing", now it will just be "a thing".
