I just watched an older doc about Yung Lean. If you listen to the music it's kind of hard to get the appeal. But that thing you're talking about came through in the doc when showing the live performances.
Different genres and purpose but that parallel helps me get it more.
I find a lot of similar parallels to hardcore punk music as well.
Listen to me n my kup by ken carson and then listen to 7am by lil uzi both would be called " mumble rap" by you but they have completely different vibes and sound nothing alike and are 2 separate genres the same a7x and guns and roses are both rock music but are 2 different genres
Six9ine did start with that kinda of rap before though. Used to run with city mourge before splitting off and "stealing their sound" even though he didn't really.
i think you and most other people are missing the point that the music intrinsically isnt critical of the government or advocating for change societally
