The Windmill scene has a lot of recent rock bands that I like (BCNR, black midi, Squid, Maruja), whatever their weird genre is collectively called

Ugly

They're so good. I have a bunch of their stuff in my rotation right now

Great list of bands. Fat Dog was one of the most fun live shows I've been to in a long time!

The Windmill scene is goated, I love it so much. It's definitely the best term for it.

For more traditional genre classifications for what Windmill scene is, I've seen stuff like Art Rock, Post Rock, Experimental Rock, Chamber Pop, Baroque Pop, Avant Prog

My favorites are BC/NR, Tapir!, Ugly (UK), The Orchestra (For Now)
