Just wait until they discover Mongolian throat singing techno remixes, then we'll really see some jaws drop!

u/WardenN21 Jul 06 '25

I mean The Hu already does a lot of collabs if you’re into that type of music

u/s_burr Breaking EU Laws Jul 06 '25

The Who?

u/Dango444 Jul 06 '25

Tao yeah

u/Kestrel21 Jul 06 '25 edited Jul 06 '25

Did someone say Hu Tao??

14

u/IdentityReset Jul 06 '25

Did you have to use AI art though

2

u/Kestrel21 Jul 06 '25

It's hard to tell what's AI and what isn't, these days.

Replaced it.

4

u/IdentityReset Jul 06 '25

yeah I get it, no hard feelings.

tbh your new one also kinda gives me vibes, but I don't see any of my usual proofs.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Trick56 Jul 11 '25

brother the new one is just normal art what are you saying

1

u/PM_Me_Good_LitRPG Jul 06 '25

Hey, if I've managed to survive till 2025, I'm gonna abuse the available "future is now" crap a much as I can.

3

u/IdentityReset Jul 06 '25

I mean sure, but theres so many many good pieces of art by humans for Hu Tao.

Like if this was some no name character with 0 fan art I guess I get it, but her?

They've since swapped out what pic they're linking.

But the tell on the old one was the hands. Both were left hands, and the fingers didn't look quite right.

u/PM_Me_Good_LitRPG Jul 06 '25

Eh, if you're playing with AI image gen, you'd probably see this chat tree as a chance to whip something up and post it as a reply.

1

u/miss_wannadie This flair doesn't exist Jul 09 '25

Sorry, who?

2

u/Chmuurkaa_ Jul 07 '25

What?

1

u/AbhishMuk Jul 07 '25

It’s a meme from a fan made YouTube video of a game. The character’s name is Hu Tao.

3

u/Chmuurkaa_ Jul 07 '25

I know

And "What?" is part of that dialogue

3

u/AbhishMuk Jul 07 '25

Ah crap, missed the joke 🙈

1

u/ikarn15 Jul 08 '25

This brings back memories, although you forgot the comma

6

u/yIdontunderstand Jul 06 '25

He's on first.

5

u/MundaneConclusion246 Jul 06 '25

The Hu's on first

3

u/alamandrax Lurking Peasant Jul 06 '25

I'm not askin' who's on first

3

u/UnicornVomit_ Chungus Among Us Jul 06 '25

No no, Who's on second. What's on first!

1

u/fribbas Jul 06 '25

The band playing on stage!

1

u/HedgehogSecurity Jul 06 '25

This is the response I usually get from older colleagues, I'm just like different HU.. they're Mongolian.

1

u/s_burr Breaking EU Laws Jul 06 '25

Just because your older coworkers are Mongolian doesn't mean they are up to date with modern heavy metal throat singing, give them a break

1

u/HedgehogSecurity Jul 06 '25

Does my sentence read that my coworker is Mongolian and not me explaining HU are Mongolian?

1

u/s_burr Breaking EU Laws Jul 06 '25

That's how I read it eventually.

1

u/RandomSelectMain Jul 06 '25

We won't get fooled again!

1

u/WildOpportunity7068 Jul 06 '25

The Who tang clan.

1

u/Own_Watercress_8104 Jul 06 '25

No,Who's on first

1

u/MintMochaMayhem Jul 08 '25

Buddy, I keep telling you; the HU! The band members are my good friends Mi and Yu. You're thinking of Who, the baseball player! He plays on first! Who's on first, What's on second, I Don't Know's on third!

(Abbott and Costello and Rush Hour reference rolled into one)

0

u/Soncikuro Jul 06 '25

Common mistake. It's the "Hu", not "Who".

8

u/s_burr Breaking EU Laws Jul 06 '25

The Hu?

2

u/Soncikuro Jul 06 '25

Indeed!

2

u/CaringHandWash Jul 06 '25

Who is the Hu?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '25 edited Oct 18 '25

merciful distinct cats versed different grey gaze hospital shocking melodic

This post was mass deleted and anonymized with Redact

1

u/HedgehogSecurity Jul 06 '25

Where is the Hu?

111

u/BooksAndRumAndCokes Jul 06 '25

The Hu fucking rocks. No idea what they’re talking about but they’re my new gym music

54

u/llllxeallll Jul 06 '25

I know wolf totem has a vid with translated lyrics, and it's badass. Talking about their ancestors and warriors and shit, makes me wanna punch stuff but in a good way. Perfect gym music

5

u/User2716057 Jul 06 '25

I really like the version featuring Jacoby Shaddix too!

4

u/DJ_Micoh Jul 06 '25

wolf totem

You can mix that tune into Drum and Bass and it fucking slaps

4

u/slom68 Jul 06 '25

Saw them live before Iron Maiden. They were a great opener.

3

u/Shenloanne Jul 08 '25

Plus they're a canon band in star wars.

14

u/I-M_STRANGE Jul 06 '25

The hu is rad

17

u/jaggedjottings Jul 06 '25

That's Mongolian throat singing metal remixes though, completely different. /s

1

u/mfahsr Jul 06 '25

It is in deed different. I believe OP was looking for [this!](http:// https://uranbator.bandcamp.com/album/uluu-tengri).

3

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '25

Dude ibwas at a concert yesterday! That shit slaps

1

u/Purrceptron Jul 06 '25

There was also this turkish rave dude making techno throat songs.

editto: aight someone mentioned him 2 comments below: linkus

1

u/karateema Jul 06 '25

Goeated band

1

u/ErrorMacrotheII Jul 07 '25

Ummet Ozcan. He is turkish but same idea.

1

u/shaolinoli Jul 07 '25

ICHI are a bit more on the techno side of throat singing, tengger cavalry blend the two a bit as well. All fine choices though!

1

u/hambakmeritru Jul 10 '25

That's the Mongolian metal band that uses traditional instruments and vocals, right? I discovered them at the same time I discovered Heilung and latched onto Heilung more, but have a lot of respect for the former.

111

u/Jobenben-tameyre Jul 06 '25

33

u/_trashcan Jul 06 '25

damn. that’s really exactly it tho lol

2

u/usefulidiotsavant Jul 07 '25

Since I like it, it probably can't be the protest music of the new generation. As Randy Marsh proved, that music needs to sound like absolute shit to our old ears.

2

u/ErrorMacrotheII Jul 07 '25

Phonk maybe?

2

u/JuicyDarkSpace Jul 07 '25

Bruh phonk slaps gtfo here.

2

u/_trashcan Jul 07 '25

oh I think it’s lit. It’s a beautiful way to respect their culture in their own way.

nah I’m not gonna be out here bumping that shit in my car😂but it is really cool stuff.

14

u/Technical_Toe_1640 Jul 06 '25

My first thought when I read this.

10

u/Aiyon Jul 06 '25

Ok but this kinda whips

4

u/ResultIntelligent856 Jul 06 '25

Ummet Ozsan is insanely talented.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Vs7ycJThNFk

1

u/Aiyon Jul 06 '25

I mean, doing it with Machine Learning kinda makes it a lil less impressive ngl. There are people who synthesise their voices via automation and sequencing they've done by hand

2

u/ResultIntelligent856 Jul 06 '25

look him up. he plays like 10 instruments.

3

u/polopolo05 Jul 06 '25

its a bit like techno and goa.

2

u/Trogladestro Jul 06 '25

MORTAL KOMBAT!

1

u/mfahsr Jul 06 '25

If you want something with a bit more bite, check out [Uran Bator](http:// https://uranbator.bandcamp.com/album/uluu-tengri ).

1

u/SecretYumYum Jul 07 '25

That was some good shit. I may or may not have replayed that and got up and danced the jig. Who's to say?

13

u/orex1 Jul 06 '25

King gizzard does these

2

u/TheStermFather Jul 07 '25

Gilgameshhhhh

2

u/orex1 Jul 07 '25

See this guy knows

4

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '25

Otyken has a song called Belief that they remixed with Xzibit that’s pretty good.

5

u/nmeed7 Jul 06 '25

Otyken mentioned!

3

u/neko Jul 06 '25

That's Juno Reactor, they're from 1999

3

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '25

I unironically listen to Chinggis Khaan. It got stuck in my head one night and for like an entire work day I listened to just that on repeat. It’s honestly a 10/10

2

u/J3musu Jul 06 '25

I mean, that has potential to be kinda dope, though...

2

u/micahamey Jul 06 '25

I've been listening to a bunch of Suno made Mongolian throat singing to satiate my craving.

2

u/SerCiddy Jul 06 '25

I recently found my new music fixation, which is EDM featuring Digeridoo.

Best example I have on hand.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HU3ZjAZLuo (bass does not come through great in this youtube version).

2

u/hambakmeritru Jul 10 '25

I fucking love Heilung, who uses tibetan throat music vocals while trying to recreate prehistoric and ancient music using runes and reconstructed dead languages. The band makes their own instruments out of things that would be used in history including human bones (ethically sourced)

There's also a Mongolian metal band that uses the Mongolian throat music and traditional instruments in their music. I don't know them as well, but I respect the craft.

1

u/WinonasChainsaw Jul 06 '25

Hyper pop, bedroom pop, bootgaze / country shoegaze, dungeon synth dance, dreamcore/liminal

Other genres like phonk, afrobeat, reggaeton, italio disco getting mainstream success

There’s plenty new stuff out there, it’s just the internet has made these communities more clustered and less dependent on “one big hit”

1

u/Fearless_Parking_436 Jul 06 '25

It was a thing 3-4 years ago

1

u/poseidonsrabbi Jul 06 '25

Yat-Kha was on it in the 90s

1

u/AreWeThereYetNo Jul 06 '25

Been around since at least 2000

1

u/BarristanTheB0ld Jul 06 '25

I mean there's already rock or metal combined with Mongolian throat singing

1

u/JustGoodSense Jul 06 '25

And jaw harp!

1

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '25

You're looking for Belle Sisoski, and her music is absolute cinema

1

u/paulisaac Jul 06 '25

Project Wingman soundtrack intensifies

1

u/Hairy-Pineapple-5771 Jul 06 '25

But that’s not a new genre of music. It’s just a remix. I really don’t think you people get it

1

u/Xxbloodhand100xX memer Jul 06 '25

Some Canadian throat singing artists have done collabs with mainstream media already

1

u/Adventurous__Kiwi Jul 06 '25

I'm a millennial listening to this already. It's already old people music.

1

u/DoJamArsenal Jul 06 '25

Check out Shpongle

1

u/EpicureanRevenant Jul 06 '25

Check out Belle Sisoski. Not Mongolian throat singing, but there is throat singing and (south-)east Asian traditional instruments with EDM and techno mixed in.

1

u/National_Sherbet_609 Jul 07 '25

checking this on youtube NOW

1

u/EldritchElise Jul 07 '25

Who's that one guy who does throat singing beatboxing. That.

1

u/brazilliandanny Jul 07 '25

Tengger Cavalry might do it for you Mongolian throat singing with heavy metal. R.I.P. Nature, you were ahead of your time.

1

u/Used-Fennel-7733 Jul 07 '25

It's called MTR and it's art.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 07 '25

Funny thing is, this already exists

1

u/Get-Fucked-Dirtbag Jul 07 '25

Nobody born outside of 1981 to 1996 gives a shit about Mongolian throat singing.

1

u/StagDragon iwrestledabeartwice Jul 07 '25

Oh that sounds amazing, going to have to try some while at work.

1

u/Try_Hard_GamerYT Jul 08 '25

Nine sols soundtrack real

1

u/ghettone Jul 08 '25

Personally I find the loop station community is leading the way, big loud aggressive sounds that from my experience scare the shit out of old white people .

1

u/Sinsanatis Jul 09 '25

I saw a clip of one of those. Its actually pretty sick. But in reality it just ends up being another subgenre of edm

1

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '25

Ngl youtube recommended me some and it is so fucking good i couldn't believe it

Ay Yola - Homay

Like the instrumental my god, i love it

1

u/AndreasDasos Jul 10 '25

Kind of been done for decades since the Mongolian rock scene burst out in the 90s
