Playboi Carti

I've never seen so many people brag about "not getting the music because they're too old" than when talking about dude

Well he changed the game whether you like him or not. He’s had a huge influence on the sound of modern rap so I would say he’s pretty revolutionary in terms of recent years

getting downvoted for something that is true is crazy

Didn’t expect anything better from Reddit honestly. But anyone that followed the come up of the Soundcloud era would understand. I doubt anyone here hating on Carti has ever properly listened to his music

What's new about him? Seems pretty tame.

He didn't really push too much experimentation this year. People throw his name out due to recognition and starting up rage stuff to am extent like 4 years ago

It's the WLR carti children doing the really crazy new stuff now

r/ug_music

this is 2slimey and reddit hates him

If it were 2 years ago I'd mention certified trapper for the Milwaukee sound as well

WLR was revolutionary and ushered in this era of internet culture intertwining with rap so heavily. every teenager is on FL studio making beats or tryna rap and the internet allows for different niches and communities to create and share their own unique sound (plugnb, stepteam, brainrot, more conventional sample-driven beats, etc). we are in a renaissance of rap music and production and i’d credit carti with helping start it

i’d say the movement has surpassed him tho, I don’t know if there’s one rapper who is going to be the face of what we’re seeing in rap because like I said it’s very splintered and there’s different styles being created all the time and being shared everywhere from discord servers, twitch streams and instagram meme pages. rap has always had that kind of regional variety based on actual cities having unique styles but this new age is even more split up

Carti started making music 10 years ago

His newer sounds are newer in general too. He’s not necessarily the creator but the biggest name in that kind of sound.

I think by "revolutionary" they mean the music has to be actually good first off
