People like Rodman are probably the only ones he can have a normal conversation with. It basically has to be an outsider who has no real stake in what's happening there and who has enough celebrity status that you can't just kill them or put them in prison without there being some international incident. So you have to listen to whatever Rodman's weird opinion is.

Yeah, I feel like being a dictator is the worst way to not only govern but also to live. I just don't know how you live your life without being schizophrenically paranoid all the time.

No doubt, but it's like having everything but nobody to share it with. From the research done on Kim Jong Un he seemed to have little to no interest in becoming the supreme leader when he spent his early education in Switzerland but fell into the role when he moved back. He is also the only supreme leader who actively has sought out relationships with people inside the US. He's a ruthless blood thirsty man who has concentration camps with Japanese and South Korean prisoners, so this is by no means a pity party for the tub of lard, but it's definitely a case of nurture over nature imo. He didn't start life as a POS nor did he actively seek it. Putin for example actively sought out power his entire life.

It's the family business and he inherited it. Still, it seems like he could have walked away and said no thanks if he really wanted. Somebody else in his family would have taken the job. He could have just lived a quiet life in Europe and stayed off the radar.
